Sentara Health is seeking an experienced IT Technical Support Specialist to join our dynamic technology team.
The IT Technical Support Specialist serves as a customer-facing technical expert, responsible for assisting users with hardware, software, and application issues. This role involves troubleshooting complex technical problems, installing and maintaining computer systems, and ensuring an exceptional customer support experience.
As a Senior Professional, this position applies advanced knowledge of IT support principles and best practices in a fast-paced environment. The specialist will provide system support for end-client systems both remotely and in person, diagnose and resolve incidents, maintain accurate documentation, and collaborate with team members to deliver high-quality service. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to continuous learning in emerging technologies.
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field – Preferred
Experience in lieu of degree:
5+ years of relevant experience with a degree
7+ years of relevant experience without a degree
No specific certification required
Preferred Certifications:
MCDST (Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician)
A+ Certification
Network+
CompTIA Project+
Minimum of 5–7 years of IT technical support or related experience
Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and networking issues
Experience providing remote and in-person technical support to end users
Strong communication and documentation skills with a customer-focused mindset
Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
Willingness to be on-call and respond to technical issues outside normal business hours
