Senior IT Product Owner - with German (f/m/x)

Job Description:

The project aims to reshape and fundamentally optimize the landscape of Private Bank Operations Germany and other Banking Workflow areas.

By introducing functionalities such as Pattern Detection, Forecasting, Centralized Steering and Centralized Employee-Skill Management Systems, it will allow the Bank to systematically predict and optimally allocate incoming workload and existing case-backlog to over 4000 Operations Employees.

At its core, the Project Application is made up of Python microservices, which handle the data processing part. It is also complemented by JAVA microservices and a front-end developed in Angular. The Agile Team consists of around 15 people, covering various roles: Data Scientists, Developers, Quality Assurance Engineers, Business Analysts, DevOps, Scrum Master.

As a German speaking IT Product Owner, you will act as a strategist, team leader and internal client advocate.

You will be responsible for managing the development of the product, launch and ongoing improvement.

You will be the primary interface between the internal customers/users/stakeholders and the cross-functional team. As part of this interface role, you will collaborate with stakeholders to clarify and negotiate requirements, define the delivery roadmap, obtain feedback on the team’s outputs, agree implementation steps and ensure that value is being realized.  You will need to manage stakeholders’ expectations, engaging them throughout the process.

In front of your multidisciplinary team, you will be accountable for synthesizing stakeholders’ needs and shaping the overall team’s scope and mission, communicating clearly the delivery roadmap and monitoring its implementation closely. You will ensure the backlog is well managed in terms of priorities, dependencies and delivery timelines with a strong focus on quality.

In partnership with the other senior roles within the team (such as technical leads), you will create an environment of psychological safety, which brings out the best in each team member, while encouraging the team to self-direct their work, to prove high-accountability for their deliverables,  to innovate and effectively apply their skills and creativity to deliver the product and project backlog.

Responsibilities

  • Shape the product vision, drive implementation and delivery roadmap in key focus areas in partnership with the business stakeholders
  • Assess and prioritize topics together with internal clients, to ensure work focuses on those with maximum value
  • Work closely with technical leads and architects to make sure appropriate technical solutions are developed in line with priorities
  • Plan product releases and set expectations for delivery of new functionalities
  • Provide an active role in mitigating implementation impediments
  • Develop professional working relationships with various stakeholder groups across all seniority levels
  • Become the “go-to person”, that business stakeholders and team members can ask for advice and guidance

Skills

  • Fluency in German and English
  • Minimum 5 years experience in Agile coordination of IT projects (covering an agile leadership role - Scrum Master, Product Owner, Agile Coach)
  • Experience with Workflow systems. Especially regarding Banking Operations
  • Knowledge of IT-technical engineering (e.g. test-driven development, continuous integration, load testing, etc.)
  • Experience working in a leadership role, managing a multidisciplinary team
  • Exposure interacting with various senior stakeholders spanning across different regions and business units
  • Excellent understanding of customer and user needs, business dynamics and banking/technology
  • Ability to think strategically and anticipate stakeholders’ needs on a long-term basis
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills at different organizational levels, with both technical and non-technical people, from varying backgrounds
  • Comfortable dealing with ambiguity and fast changing environments
