About you and this role:
Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Health & Safety Technician for Dow's East Texas HUB (ETH) Safety Team located in Orange, TX. The East Texas HUB is made up of the Sabine River Operations (SRO) and the Beaumont sites and is strategically located in the heart of the Dow Gulf Coast sites. As part of these high value sites in the Dow fleet, you will have opportunity to learn and deepen your skills across several different technologies and processes.
You will share in the responsibility for the implementation of the Health & Safety (H&S) management system, to meet business objectives and to maintain the license to operate. As a Health & Safety Technician, you will provide hands-on industrial hygiene (IH) and health and safety (H&S) services to a wide customer base within the plants.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate, implement, and optimize detailed, task level, day to day EH&S programs utilizing the EH&S work process, standards, and procedures.
- Ensure that all IH, Health, and Safety aspects of operating discipline are effectively applied to achieve H&S performance goals. In most cases, you may be an owner for the H&S sections of Dow operating discipline system.
- Act as the Plant resource for related H&S information on procedures, guidelines, and standards.
- Serve as plant contact for IH and Health & Safety issues.
- Serve as an active member on facility EH&S Team.
- Coach teams and individuals on H&S related tasks and activities.
- Assist in developing and achieving area or plant H&S goals through collaboration with facility leadership.
- Ensure compliance tasks are completed.
- Perform or coordinate IH monitoring, data collection, analyzing and reporting for the Plant.
- Coordinate the audit schedule in the Safety & Health related areas.
- Exhibits strong multi-tasking, problem solving and time management skills.
- Participate in the Health & Safety related reviews and projects, as required.
- Participate in or lead Root Cause Analysis for H&S events, which could include gathering information, participation in incident investigations as Health & Safety Subject Matter Expert (SME) and ensuring follow up actions are completed to prevent re-occurrence.
- Perform Health & Safety Review for Management of Change (MOCs).
- Initiate and support MOC for Health & Safety standards, rules and processes in a timely manner and ensure MOC closure.
- Perform assessments of H&S standards and work processes as assigned.
- Develop and deliver training, as needed, to drive site or facility H&S knowledge.
- Act as a working team lead, providing subject matter guidance and coordinating work of others, as required.

Qualifications:
- A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED and one or more of the following:
- Associates degree, or higher, in relevant field.
- 4 or more years of relative military experience.
- 4 or more years of EH&S experience.
- 4 or more years of experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
- Must be willing to work weekends, overtime and holidays, when required.
- Must have valid US Driver’s License.
- A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

- Communication: The ability to clearly convey information verbally and in writing to internal teams, external partners, and leadership. This includes explaining safety procedures, reporting incidents, and delivering training in a way that is understandable and actionable.
- Problem Solving: The capability to identify safety-related issues, analyze root causes, and implement effective solutions. For example, investigating incidents, recommending corrective actions, and ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- Collaboration: Working effectively with diverse teams, including operations, maintenance, and leadership, to achieve common health and safety goals. This involves building trust, influencing decisions, and fostering a cooperative environment.
- Risk Awareness: The ability to recognize potential hazards and assess risks in industrial environments. This includes understanding regulatory requirements, anticipating safety challenges, and proactively implementing measures to prevent incidents.
- Health & Safety: Expertise in applying health and safety principles, standards, and procedures to maintain a safe work environment. This includes industrial hygiene monitoring, compliance audits, and implementing EH&S programs.
- Conflict Resolution: The skill to manage and resolve disagreements or misunderstandings related to safety practices or compliance. This involves listening actively, mediating disputes, and ensuring alignment with safety objectives without compromising relationships.
