As a Senior Hatchery Technician (Fish and Wildlife Technician Senior) at Willamette Fish Hatchery in Oakridge, Oregon, you will provide support to the Willamette hatchery programs by assisting the management staff with planning and scheduling work and training and directing other employees and volunteers, and performing all tasks required in the fish rearing operations at the facility. Duties include:
Fish rearing
Handling anadromous and resident/domestic and wild adult salmonid brood stock
Assist with operation and maintenance to achieve fish production goals
Water systems maintenance and operations
Preventative and/or corrective maintenance using hand tools and power equipment
Repair, construct and manufacture special tools, equipment and structures for fish culture use
Complete daily and monthly records, form and reports
Conduct hatchery tours

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Minimum Qualifications
Option 1: Four years of fish culture (care of fish) experience (two years of fisheries, wildlife or related habitat work experience will count toward this experience).
-OR-
Option 2: An Associate degree in Fisheries Technology, Aquaculture or Aquarium Science and two years and six months of fish culture (care of fish) experience. (Twelve months of fisheries, wildlife or related habitat work experience will count toward this experience);
-OR-
Option 3: A Bachelor’s degree in Fisheries Science or a closely related Bachelor’s degree with at least 45 quarter (30 semester) hours of biological/ecological coursework and one year of fish culture (care of fish) experience (six months of fisheries, wildlife or related habitat work experience will count toward this experience);
Desired Attributes
Fish rearing experience
Salmonid experience
Experience observing proper or adverse rearing conditions and fish health concerns
Experience with water systems maintenance and operations
Experience with operation and maintenance of vehicles, equipment, and hand and power tools to fabricate, maintain, or repair equipment and structures
Experience working with the public, agency staff, or other agencies to convey or get information
Experience analyzing project goals and determining work tasks
Experience evaluating long term maintenance and repair needs and preparing relevant information

The salary listed is the non-PERS qualifying salary range. If the successful candidate is PERS qualifying, the salary range will reflect an additional 6.95%
