A day in the life

As a Senior GIS Analyst, you will be part of the Global Strategy Analytics (GSA) team, leading efforts to apply geospatial analytics to inform and improve business decision-making across the organization. You will design, build, and deliver analytical workflows and visualizations that translate spatial and non-spatial data into actionable insights. This role is ideal for someone who can independently take a business problem, define the core question, explore multiple solutions, and execute an analytical plan from start to finish.

The position emphasizes spatial thinking, innovation, data storytelling, and business impact. You will serve as a spatial analytics lead, collaborating with cross-functional partners to deliver high-value analytics, automate workflows, and advance the use of GIS within the business.

Key responsibilities include:

Spatial Analytics and Business Insight

  • Lead analytical projects that integrate spatial and traditional data science to answer key business questions.

  • Conduct in-depth geospatial analysis using Esri tools (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise) to identify trends, clusters, and opportunities.

  • Translate business problems into analytical approaches and communicate results in clear, data-driven narratives.

  • Develop geospatial models, scoring systems, and custom tools that enhance decision-making and drive measurable outcomes.

Workflow Development & Automation

  • Build and maintain complete analytical workflows using Python, SQL, and Esri geoprocessing tools.

  • Automate repetitive GIS and data management tasks to improve efficiency and scalability.

  • Integrate and analyze data from multiple sources, including internal databases and external APIs.

  • Support the democratization of geospatial analysis by developing reusable scripts and workflows.

Data Visualization & Communication

  • Design compelling cartographic products, dashboards, and data visualizations that bring insights to life.

  • Use best practices in map design, symbology, and data storytelling to engage business stakeholders.

  • Assist in the development of dashboards and visual analytics using ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Dashboards, or complementary BI tools such as Tableau.

  • Collaborate with Data Science, Capital Deployment, and Market Research teams to align analytics with business priorities.

Building blocks for success

Required:

  • 3+ years of professional GIS and spatial analytics experience.

  • Proficiency in ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise, and related Esri technologies.

  • Strong experience with Python (arcpy, pandas, geopandas) and SQL for data processing and analysis.

  • Proven ability to build analytical workflows independently and deliver complete, reproducible analyses.

  • Deep understanding of cartography, data visualization, and spatial data science principles.

  • Ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights and communicate findings effectively to non-technical audiences.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in GIS, Geography, Data Science, Urban Planning, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

  • Experience with Snowflake, Tableau, or Sigma.

Hiring Salary Range of: $72,800 - $91,000. Salary and whole compensation package (bonus target) to be determined by the candidate’s location, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
