As a Senior Fullstack Python Developer, you’ll design, build and maintain robust backend systems in Python while contributing to modern frontend development.
 

You’ll lead complex projects end-to-end, collaborate across product and design teams, and take ownership of architecture decisions that balance scalability, performance and speed.
 

 With a focus on quality, automation and continuous improvement, you’ll enhance our infrastructure, CI/CD and system reliability while mentoring others and shaping the technical direction of the platform.

This will be a full time, permanent position based in our Sydney office, with work-from-home flexibility (up to 3 days per week).
 

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, build and enhance key backend services in Python, while supporting modern frontend development initiatives.
  • Drive delivery of end-to-end full-stack solutions, overseeing everything from initial concept to deployment and optimisation.
  • Partner with product, design and operational teams to shape the roadmap and ensure technical alignment with business goals.
  • Champion improvements to our infrastructure, pipelines, monitoring and overall system performance.
  • Take responsibility for platform architecture, making pragmatic decisions that balance scalability, speed and long-term stability.
  • Embed strong practices around testing, security and maintainability across all layers of the stack.
  • Act as a technical leader and mentor, setting standards, guiding peers and influencing the broader engineering direction.
     

ABOUT YOU

  • 8+ years of professional software development experience, with a strong focus on Python backend development.
  • Solid practical experience in fullstack development (backend + frontend) in production environments.
  • architecture skills.
  • Sound knowledge of frontend technologies (e.g., React, Angular, Vue) and how frontend + backend interact; able to contribute across both.
  • Hands-on experience with databases (relational and/or NoSQL), message brokers, APIs, microservices architecture, and DevOps/CI-CD pipelines.
  • Excellent communication skills — able to engage cross-functional stakeholders, articulate technical concepts to non-technical audiences and mentor team members.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and elevate a development team: code reviews, mentoring, design discussions, enforcing quality.
  • Experience in hybrid or node-based architectures, cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP), containerisation (Docker/Kubernetes), observability/monitoring stacks would be highly advantageous.
