The Corporate Finance team is the source of Enterprise Financial Performance Management (EFPM) and provides corporate center of excellence services in the areas of Corporate Financial Planning & Analysis (Corporate FP&A) Finance Business Partnering (FBP), Enterprise Portfolio Governance (EPG) and administration services for the organization. The EFPM team is a client-centric department focused on advising business unit leaders on effectively deploying capital to high-value growth initiatives and execution on business plans. As such, the department supports the end to end finance support cycle of forecasting, analysis, accounting and reporting (management, regulatory and external) for its business unit partners and leads the forecasting, analysis and management reporting at the enterprise level.

Reporting into the Senior Manager, FP&A (Datalinx), this individual is an integral part of the supported Business Unit (BU) and is responsible for providing accounting, reporting, and financial planning & analysis frontline support. A strong communicator and natural business partner, this role liaises with various functional teams across TMX and builds relationships with our stakeholders. This role has direct engagement with the BU’s senior leadership teams and works closely with various finance and operational teams within TMX.

Key Accountabilities

Business Unit Support

  • Full variance analysis, including detailed understanding on variances to budget, forecast, and prior year

  • Help deliver insights into the variances and root causes of financial performance

  • Support financial discipline across the BU, ensuring targets are met by identifying potential risks and opportunities and advise on action plans to address gaps

  • Counsel leadership teams with respect to financial management and financial impacts of operational decisions

  • Support the integration process for any newly acquired businesses 

  • Analyze non-financial operating performance indicators, assessing trends and variances

  • Coordinate review meetings where necessary with management

  • Support business case development, modeling/tracking, and post-mortem analysis

  • Support the annual budget, multi-year strategic plan and quarterly forecasts

  • Prepare journal entries when necessary, identify and collect data and process key accruals/re-classification necessary to ensure completeness of liabilities and expenses.

  • Perform quarterly reconciliations of relevant balance sheet accounts

  • Use Workday functionality to identify and act on process efficiency opportunities in month-end processes

  • Provide projects/initiatives status reporting for sponsored projects

Customer Billing and Revenue Assurance

  • Subject matter expert related to billings process for Datalinx

  • Support the work with the Transaction Services, Tax and Datalinx Business Operations team to ensure accounting treatment of billing and collection transactions are accurate and complete in the general ledger

  • Coordinate the process to update the billing system into Workday Financials and accurately reflect any changes to processes in the system
     

Other

  • Support the maintenance of a reliable system of internal controls over financial reporting to adequately safeguard the company’s assets and provide with integrity accurate reporting on financial results and in accordance with the requirements for CEO/CFO certification

  • Perform ad hoc analysis as required



Skills

  • University graduate; a CPA and/or CFA designation or in progress is preferred

  • 3-5 years of relevant finance experience; experience in corporate finance, business support, and internal managerial reporting

  • Strong analytical skills with good understanding of accounting principles and practices

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - both orally and in writing

  • Superior technical skills, including Excel (pivot tables, model building, model auditing), Google Workspace. Knowledge of other database tools would be an asset

  • Excellent attention to detail and organized with the ability to multi-task in an efficient manner

  • Ability to multi-task in an efficient, controlled manner

  • Customer service orientation

  • Workday financial system experience a plus

  • Familiar with visual analytic tools such as Tableau and/or Quicksights
