The Opportunity
This position works out of our Minnetonka, MN location in the Cardiac Rhythm Management division.
As a global leader in Cardiac Rhythm Technologies, we focus on innovative technologies that can improve the way doctors treat people with heart arrhythmias, or irregular heartbeats.
Senior Engineer, Continuous Improvement & Operational Excellence role will be responsible for analyzing, designing, and implementing manufacturing and business process improvements that increase capacity, reduce lead-time, reduce the work-in-process, and improve process flow and efficiency. These actions will occur across multiple facets of organization including: manufacturing, design, supplier development, documentation, and Abbott suppliers. Projects will incorporate Shingo principles, Six-Sigma methodology, lean manufacturing, theory of constraints, quick response manufacturing, Just-In-Time, Methods- Time Measurement, or a variety of other systems improvement philosophies. The employee will be required to create strong relationships with team members internal and external to Abbott to ensure project success.
What You’ll Work On
•Analyzes, creates and implements manufacturing and/or business process improvements that increase capacity, reduce lead-time, reduce work in process and improve the quality, cost and delivery performance of Abbott.
•Completes capacity analysis internally and/or at suppliers for headcount, equipment and space requirements using simulation software or other effective tools.
•Identifies opportunities and drives incorporation of appropriate Lean tool usage such as 5S, time study, line balancing, standard work, material flow and value stream mapping, process mapping and Kaizen event into the daily functions of continuous improvement.
•Implements and maintains effective metrics with internal customers.
•Participates as a core member in cross-functional teams to quickly troubleshoot and eliminate product supply issues internally or at suppliers.
•Makes recommendations to teams, which drive higher yielding, lower cost, more manufacturable products. Will use financial analyses tool and recommend alternative courses of action.
•Convinces internal customer to make fundamental changes to their manufacturing and/or business processes based on data, simulated scenarios, and financial impact analysis.

Education Level
Bachelors Degree (± 16 years)
Related field
OR
An equivalent combination of education and work experience
Masters Degree (± 18 years)

EXPERIENCE
Technical/Business Knowledge-Wide application of technical principles, practices, and procedures.
Strong understanding of business unit function and cross group dependencies/relationships.
Cognitive Skills- Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.
Exercises judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
Has a sound knowledge of various technical alternatives and their impact.
Minimum 6 years related work experience with a strong understanding of specified functional area

The base pay for this position is
$75,300.00 – $150,700.00In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
