Sysco LABS’ enterprise technology is present in the end-to-end foodservice journey, enabling the sourcing of food products, merchandising, storage and warehouse operations, order placement and pricing algorithms, the delivery of food and supplies to Sysco’s global network and the in-restaurant dining experience of the end-customer.
The Opportunity:
As a Cloud Engineer, you will responsible for the design, implementation, and management of our cloud infrastructure on the Microsoft Azure platform. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess requirements, develop cloud solutions, and ensure the security, scalability, and reliability of our cloud-based systems. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in Azure engineering, architecture and a deep understanding of cloud computing technologies. You will participate in architecture reviews and deployments of Azure environments, bring engineering best practices, manage changes, and inspire teams toward delivery excellence at Sysco.
The Role:
- Design, implement, and manage highly available and scalable cloud infrastructure on the Azure platform.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and application teams to understand business requirements, translate them into cloud deployments, and provide operational support to application teams.
- Develop and maintain cloud migration strategies, including assessing existing systems, identifying gaps, and recommending remediation plans.
- Ensure the security, availability, and performance of Azure resources through proper design and configuration.
- Implement and optimize cloud-based solutions, including virtual networks, storage, compute resources, and identity management.
- Define and enforce cloud governance policies, including resource tagging, access controls, and cost management.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related to Azure infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Stay up to date with the latest trends and advancements in Azure and cloud computing technologies and provide recommendations for continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, system administrators, and security specialists, to ensure seamless integration of cloud solutions.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
- Work with DevOps and IaC tools such as GitHub, Jenkins, Docker, Terraform, Azure Resource Manager (ARM) and Kubernetes.
- Ensure the security and compliance of all Sysco’s infrastructure, data, applications, and configurations.
- Cloud adoption/migration strategies implementation for the Organization.
- Design / Develop Scripts for Automation where appropriate.
The Profile:
- Extensive knowledge of Azure infrastructure, services, and offerings, including Azure Virtual Machines, Azure Storage, Azure App Services, Azure Functions, Azure Networking, and Azure Active Director.
- Should have a successful track record in designing, implementing, and managing systems and infrastructure in a cloud computing environment, including multi-cloud hybrid architectures.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or an equivalent field.
- 4+ years of industry experience and 3+ years of working experience with Azure cloud platform.
- Proven experience as an Azure Cloud Professional, with a strong focus on designing and implementing Azure-based solutions.
- Certified in Microsoft Azure Administrator or Azure Solutions Architect level.
- Solid understanding of different cloud environments and applications, including hybrid scenarios, optimizing cost/capacity ratios, scaling, implementing, and validating database & DR scenarios, security, and compliance.
- Knowledge of cloud security controls including conditional access policies, tenant isolation, encryption at rest, encryption in transit, key management, federated authentication vulnerability assessments, application firewalls, SIEM, etc.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong oral, written, and presentation abilities, able to convey risk to all levels of the business, from executives to operations and development teams.
