About you and this role

As the Senior EH&S Technician, you share responsibility for the implementation of the EH&S management system, in order to meet business objectives and to maintain the license to operate. You provide hands-on environmental, industrial hygiene (IH), and health and safety (H&S) activities for a specific plant. This role requires full proficiency in a range of technical, operational, or analytical/scientific processes and procedures through job-related training and considerable on the job experience to perform a variety of work assignments. You also act as an informal resource for team members with less experience.

Responsibilities

  • Implement detailed, task level, day to day EH&S programs, utilizing the EH&S work process, standards and procedures.
  • Ensure that the Environmental, IH, and Health and Safety aspects of operating discipline are adequate and applied to achieve EH&S performance goals. In most cases, would perform the role of section owner for the EH&S sections of operating discipline.
  • Act as the Plant resource for related EH&S information on procedures, guidelines and standards.
  • Serve as plant contact for Environmental, IH, and Health and Safety issues.
  • Coach teams and individuals on EH&S related tasks and activities.
  • Assist in developing and achieving area or plant EH&S goals.
  • Ensure compliance tasks are completed.
  • Perform/coordinate certain Environmental, and IH monitoring, data collection, analyzing and reporting for the Plant.

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 5 or more years of experience in an Operations, Maintenance, or EH&S role within an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Valid US driver's license is required.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.

  • A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States.  No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.

Willing and able to meet physical demands of the job, with or without reasonable accommodations

  • Wear safety equipment, such as earplugs, goggles, and steel-toed shoes.
  • Wear and use respirators.
  • Perform frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.
  • Work in tight or closed-in spaces.
  • Climb stairs/ladders and work high off the ground.
  • Stand or walk for extended periods of time.  
  • Lift a maximum of 50 lbs.
  • This role does involve elevated work greater than or equal to four feet above the ground. Must be able to wear and use personal protective equipment (PPE), including harnesses with a total weight capacity of 300lbs.

  • Technical Proficiency in EH&S Practices: Demonstrate hands-on expertise in environmental, industrial hygiene, and health & safety procedures. Apply EH&S standards and work processes to ensure compliance and performance goals are met.
  • Leadership and Coaching: Act as a resource and informal leader within the team. Coach others on EH&S tasks and promotes safety culture through influence and initiative.
  • Problem Solving and Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement improvements in equipment, processes, and team performance. Uses experience to troubleshoot and resolve issues independently.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Serve as the plant contact for EH&S-related information and issues. Work across teams to share knowledge, align on safety goals, and support operational discipline.
  • Ethics and Responsibility: Uphold company values and ethics, intervening when unsafe or inappropriate behavior is observed. Take personal responsibility for EH&S compliance and encourages accountability within the team.

Additional Notes

  • Turn-around experience in hydrocarbons is a plus.
  • This position does not offer relocation assistance.
