RBC

Senior Documentation Specialist

TORONTO, Ontario, Canada Full time

Job Description

WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

You love words! Grammer and syntax matter to you and you love to put words together in a way that anybody can understand. It makes your day when somebody reads your articles or reference docs and then says, “now I know what to do”. The Disaster Recovery Team, now part of Risk, Regulatory Delivery & Governance, needs you to be the linchpin in our communications hub. We need an expert communicator to facilitate two-way communications between our team and multiple stakeholder groups for success all around.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Oversee the draft-review-revision-approval process for our library of documentation, which covers materials for technical stakeholders (how-to and reference documents), risk management (process and internal procedure documents subject to audit).
  • Write new documentation to support our program, and review/revise existing materials annually.
  • Contribute to maintaining our internal website, potentially leading the design and maintenance of the site.
  • Establish strong working relationships across business units and platforms to build influence and impact with key business partners. Collaborate with groups to define and achieve deliverables and ensure initiatives are effectively integrated into RBC procedures and processes.
  • Manage the implementation of multiple concurrent initiatives of varying complexity in a time efficient manner.  Monitor and control activities according to plan.
  • Continuously identify potential issues, conflicts, and risks.  Analyze, mitigate and escalate where appropriate

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?

 Must have:

  • 5+ years experience as a communications professional (esp technical writer), meaning you are an expert writer. You know what an Oxford comma is and have an opinion, you know that ‘to revert’ does not mean ‘to reply’, and you know without doubt that audience is key to all successful communications.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a range of stakeholders, including technical professionals.
  • Strong organizational, project management and time management capabilities.
  • Independent self-started, deadline-driven and results-oriented; able to meet consistently high quality standards while handling a variety of tasks and deadlines simultaneously.

Nice-to-have

  • Experience in a financial institution or technology environment
  • PowerPoint addiction; we love our ppt decks
  • Experience with ServiceNow knowledge base module

What’s in it for you?

We thrive on the challenge to be our best, progressive thinking to keep growing, and working together to deliver trusted advice to help our clients thrive and communities prosper. We care about each other, reaching our potential, making a difference to our communities, and achieving success that is mutual.

  • A comprehensive Total Rewards Program including bonuses and flexible benefits, competitive compensation, commissions, and stock where applicable
  • Leaders who support your development through coaching and managing opportunities
  • Ability to make a difference and lasting impact
  • Work in a dynamic, collaborative, progressive, and high-performing team
  • A world-class training program in financial services
  • Flexible work/life balance options
  • Opportunities to do challenging work
