As the Senior Director, Technology, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the engineering and cybersecurity landscape for Zip. Reporting to the CIO ANZ, this role leads a central enablement and standards function designed to drive engineering quality, resilience, and consistency across our technology ecosystem.

You’ll set the bar for technical excellence, governing architecture, uplifting delivery maturity, and embedding intelligent automation and AI-enabled development across Zip’s engineering practice. This is a rare opportunity to lead the evolution of technology foundations that underpin millions of customer and merchant experiences every day

What you’ll own

  • Define, govern, and uplift Zip’s engineering and security standards across architecture, coding, testing, and deployment
  • Lead the development and maturity of Zip’s Cyber Security, Site Reliability, and AI Engineering Practices
  • Embed “security by design” and proactive defence mechanisms into all aspects of our delivery
  • Partner with the CIO and Principal Architect to shape and manage Zip’s target-state architecture, ensuring strategic alignment across platforms
  • Drive continuous improvement in developer experience, automation, and delivery velocity through standardised tooling and frameworks
  • Champion responsible AI governance and the ethical use of AI in engineering practices
  • Mentor and develop future technology leaders, building a culture of accountability, innovation, and collaboration

What you'll bring to the team

  • 12+ years in leadership across software engineering and technology, with experience leading across multiple domains
  • Deep technical expertise in systems design, software engineering practices, and enterprise architecture governance
  • Proven success driving large-scale transformation, platform modernisation, and uplift in engineering quality and productivity
  • Experience in cyber security governance, cloud architecture, and operational resilience
  • Track record of introducing intelligent automation and AI-driven delivery enablement
  • Confident communicator and mentor who can inspire and align diverse technical teams toward a shared vision
  • A mindset that embraces AI and new tools to adapt, learn and grow.
