Northrop Grumman’s Global Corporate Responsibility (GCR) organization is seeking a Senior Director, Social Impact & Investment to lead, shape and advance the company’s social impact. This role will set the strategic direction for enterprise social impact, steward significant philanthropic investments, and drive employee engagement globally through volunteerism and giving initiatives.

This position is located at our Corporate headquarters in Falls Church, VA and requires travel up to 25% of the time.

Key Responsibilities: 

In this job, you’ll… 

  • Be a key part of the GCR leadership team; collaborating with the GCR VP and other senior leaders to determine vision, goals and priorities for the GCR organization.

  • Lead the Social Impact & Investment team, responsible for:

    • Setting company-wide philanthropic strategy

    • Identifying and managing national non-profit partnerships

    • Setting employee volunteerism strategy and managing volunteer partnerships

    • Managing all company charitable spend

    • Managing all employee giving programs

    • Charitable giving in partnership with other company functions, such as Sustainability, Global Business Development and University Relations & Recruiting

  • Serve as Executive Director of The Northrop Grumman Foundation, which includes fiscal oversight, governance, grants portfolio management and facilitation of all board meetings and collaboration.

  • Partner with GCR’s Senior Director for Culture & Engagement and Community Implementation Manager to ensure local giving and volunteering efforts (which they’re responsible for designing and implementing) are aligned with enterprise strategy and meet company and community needs. 

  • Represent the company with key philanthropic partners and membership organizations.

  • Ensure Social Impact investments, partnerships and programs meet strategic business outcomes and impact, budget, regulatory, audit and reporting requirements.

  • Serve as a thought partner and first line of support to executive leadership, advising on sponsorship requests, non-profit board service, and charitable giving and volunteer engagement at all levels. 

Basic Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Affairs, Communications, Corporate Social Responsibility, Business or related field, and at least 12 years of related experience; 10 years with a Master's degree.

  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in corporate philanthropy, foundation management and oversight, social responsibility, and employee volunteerism at a large company ($5B+ in annual revenue).

  • Experience in corporate social responsibility and/or community relations strategy development and execution.

  • Comfortable with, and trusted to, speak at executive events and represent the organization externally.

  • Experience managing cross-functional teams and working in highly-matrixed environments; demonstrated ability to mentor and develop a team, cultivating people leaders, strong collaborators, and leadership.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a track record of building trusted relationships across all levels of an organization. 

  • Clear ability to connect business strategy and business growth to corporate giving, volunteering, and community engagement. 

  • Data fluency with experience gathering program metrics and creating impact reporting. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Master’s degree in Public Affairs, Communications, Corporate Social Responsibility, Business or related field.

  • 10 years of progressive leadership experience in corporate philanthropy, social responsibility, foundation management and oversight and employee volunteerism at a large company ($5B+ in annual revenue).

  • Track record of successfully implementing significant, transformative change(s) within a company or organization.

  • Experience designing and launching programs that engage employees and leaders in volunteerism and/or community impact initiatives, especially in hybrid environments. 

  • Experience partnering closely with state/local government affairs or relations. 

Primary Level Salary Range: $194,200.00 - $291,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
