About the Team

The AP Curriculum and Assessment (AP C&A) team at College Board (110+ staff) collaborates with colleagues across all aspects of the AP Program to develop, manage, and deliver AP’s 40+ courses in a wide variety of subject areas. AP® is a rigorous academic program built on the commitment, passion, and hard work of students and educators from secondary schools and higher education. AP provides willing and academically prepared high school students with the opportunity to study and learn at the college level. Within AP C&A, the AP Assessment team is a cross-functional group of professionals with deep expertise in academic content, systems, project management, and content knowledge management. This team provides critical support to AP C&A course teams in the design, delivery, and scoring of AP Exams.

About the Opportunity

As the Senior Director of AP Reader Training, you will serve as a key leader within both the AP Assessment and AP C&A teams in leading the end-to-end strategy, design, development, and implementation of all constructed response training for the AP Program. Your primary focus will be to ensure accurate and reliable scoring through high-quality, accessible, and instructionally sound learning experiences for all stakeholders involved in the annual AP Reading—including AP Readers, Chief Readers, scoring leadership, and AP C&A assessment content teams.

You will oversee the creation and delivery of training assets for digital, digital-hybrid, and print constructed response questions across all 40+ AP courses, ensuring alignment with learning science principles, assessment best practices, AP course frameworks, and task models. This role requires the management of complex project timelines, cross-functional stakeholder collaboration, learning management system (LMS) deployment, and ongoing refinement of training materials to meet the evolving needs of the AP Reading.

In close collaboration with AP C&A content teams, AP Delivery and Scoring partners, and external vendors, you will lead the development and deployment of all Reader training content related to constructed response scoring. Additionally, you will provide technical learning design expertise and execution support for broader AP assessment learning initiatives and professional learning programs for AP C&A assessment content teams. Through your strategic mindset, collaborative approach, technical expertise, and strong organization and communication skills, you will drive the continuous improvement of the AP Reader training and ensure the accuracy, reliability, and success of AP free-response scoring.
