Position Overview / Purpose

As a DevOps Engineer, you will work closely with engineering and research teams to design, implement, and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines, automate workflows, and ensure seamless integration of diverse software components. You will be the go-to person for process ownership / driving efficiency, reliability, and scalability in our development lifecycle.

Accountabilities 

Accountability 1:  DevOps Engineer

  • Setting up and maintenance of the new and existing CI/CD systems and tools
  • Setting up and maintenance of the package management system
  • Support of the CI/CD infrastructure for different projects and teams
  • Containerization for projects builds/tests where applicable
  • Collaborate and align with the different software teams using the CI/CD systems at CTC to deliver shared templates/standards and reduce duplication

Accountability 2:  Quality 

  • Document & report developments and progress clearly
  • Follow all applicable development & verification processes and methodologies.  These may be part of internal policies, applicable international standards, applicable regulatory requirements and/or specific team processes
  • Establish and meet CI SLOs
  • Collaborate and influence across multiple teams to ensure good quality delivery of the activities

  • Good communication skills. 
  • Ability to communicate openly and constructively with other team members, and knowledge sharing within the team and across teams. 
  • Contributing to the team’s work and result. 
  • Participate in team events and celebrations. 

Accountability 4: Personal development 

  • Keep well informed about latest technology developments in software engineering as well as in the audiological field of Cochlear System. 
  • Be aware of competitor activities. 
  • Follow job specific training courses. 
  • Contribute to the development of new technologies and intellectual property. 

Key Requirements 

Minimum: 

  • Master in software engineering or equivalent with +5 years of experience in a full lifecycle commercial software development environment. 
  • Demonstrated experience with Software Development as DevOps.
  • Good level of experience in C++ and C#.
  • Solid experience with the setting up and working with several CI/CD systems (TeamCity, Gitlab, Jenkins etc.).
  • Experience with setting up and usage of the package management systems, e.g.: NuGet, vcpkg, Conan etc.
  • Familiar with Agile development environments and scrum. 
  • Good writing skills for purposes of design and code documentation. 
  • Ability to have a broad perspective on technical development. 
  • Familiar with hardware integration, electronics and measurement equipment (oscilloscopes, …) is a plus. 
  • Working knowledge of the English language. 

Ideal: 

  • Experience with several build environment/compilers: VisualStudio/msvc, clang, gcc, Qt, makefiles, cmake
  • Scripting knowledge: python, bash, ps
  • Containerization (Docker)
  • Git, experience with Perforce is a plus
  • Experience with medical device software development.
  • Strong interest in medical device development and associated quality regulations
  • Kubernetes; cloud runners (AWS/Azure/GCP); Prometheus/Grafana/ELK.
  • Hardware-in-the-loop or lab automation.
