Job Description:
The Legislative Fiscal Office (LFO) is seeking an experienced Senior Committee Assistant to provide administrative services to legislative committees and the nonpartisan office. As an expert in committee administration, this position supports LFO-staffed committees by preparing agendas, organizing materials and exhibits, facilitating meetings, both in the Capitol and offsite, and recording hearing proceedings. The position also assists the Office and Committee Manager with advancing assigned measures through the legislative process.
The Legislative Fiscal Office (LFO) provides nonpartisan, permanent, professional analytical services to the Legislative Assembly. The mission of the office is to provide comprehensive research, analysis, and recommendations on the state’s biennial budget. LFO evaluates state expenditures, program administration, and agency organization to assist in development of the Legislature’s adopted balanced budget; prepares fiscal impact statements on legislative measures; and provides staff support to the Joint Committee on Ways and Means, Emergency Board, and several other legislative committees.
The ideal candidate for this position has experience staffing legislative committees, providing administrative services to facilitate efficient office operations, and has the following characteristics:

HOW TO QUALIFY:
Your application must demonstrate:
- Associate Degree; and
- Five (5) years of related experience, including serving as legislative committee staff, or as an administrative support specialist supporting business operations, responding to customer/client inquiries, or providing administrative coordination for a project, program, or organization.
OR - An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to demonstrate ability to perform the duties of the position.
An additional degree may substitute for two years of experience.

SPECIAL INFORMATION:
- The Capitol Building is undergoing extensive renovation and construction projects which may limit accessibility to employees. This will require Legislative employees to work both from home and within the building as the construction project dictates. While working from home, personal, stable, and high-speed internet access will be required to perform the functions of this position. There may be occasions that require employees scheduled to be working from home to report to the Capitol building. Every effort will be made to provide reasonable notice. However, employees may be required to report to the building on short notice. The Capitol building is located at 900 Court Street NE, Salem, OR 97301.

- The salary in this job posting reflects the base salary without contributions to the Public Employee Retirement System (PERS). Employees eligible for PERS will have their salary increased by roughly 6.95% and 6% will be automatically be subject to a mandatory employee contribution to PERS.
