Key responsibilities will include working with, and coordinating, an architectural/engineering team in preparing documents for a variety of project types including transportation, justice, education and infrastructure.  The ideal candidate will participate in the full range of design phases, from concept through construction documents, as well as construction administration phase, requiring interface and collaboration with various disciplines, vendors, contractors, clients, and consultants. The position requires preparation of Architectural documents and supervision of their execution; analysis of design and construction systems; development of planning studies, design layouts, and construction details. The Senior Architect performs and oversees research used in writing specifications, including coordinating with manufacturers; conducts site and construction inspections for information-gathering purposes; prepares interpretive reports; executes code analysis, material selections, and technical solutions. Key required capabilities include analysis, selection and development of design and construction systems, design layouts, and construction features, which requires researching, compiling, and recording information for assigned project work. Ability to plan, schedule, organize, delegate and monitor progress and quality of the work for the project team, including consultants, across all project phases is essential.

 

Required Experience:

  • Professional Degree in Architecture (B. Arch or M. Arch preferred).

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience as a project architect.

  • Registered Licensed Architect in the State of New York.

  • Experience in the transportation, infrastructure, justice and/or education sector is desirable. 

  • Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office Suite is required. 

  • Experience with OpenBuildings, Rhino, 3-D Max, Sketch-up, as well as LEED Accreditation, is a plus.

  • Excellent design, technical detailing, and strong presentation skills, both verbal and visual, are essential.

  • The candidate should be a self-starter with a passion for problem-solving, an understanding that project success comes through teamwork, and a firm focus on client needs.

 

Essential Duties Include:

  • Determine collectively with multiple design disciplines, the technical approach and design criteria for projects.

  • Coordinate and lead work of the internal project team as well as consultants.

  • Lead and mentor architectural staff.

  • Perform independent investigations, studies, and architectural analysis.

  • Develop design details, plans and specifications.

  • Serve as quality control reviewer.

  • Use computer software as a design tool for solving complex architectural problems.

  • Contribute new designs, or techniques that are of material significance in the solution of significant technical and design problems.

  • Remain current in knowledge of national and local codes, building systems, materials and technologies appropriate to the architecture discipline. 

  • Ensure conformance with standards, established architectural practices, applicable codes, and technical adequacy of design and construction.

  • Construction Administration services, including review shop drawings and Requests for Information (RFIs).

Compensation Range:

$128,289.89 - $171,053.19
