Senior Application Engineer (Partially Remote)

Job Summary:

The Senior Applications Engineer supports MaineGeneral’s mission by developing and managing data solutions that enhance patient care and operational efficiency. This position designs and maintains ETL processes, builds automation tools and dashboards, and integrates data across multiple healthcare systems to support analytics and decision-making. Due to project collaboration and occasional onsite needs, current Maine-based candidates are strongly preferred.

Job Description:

The Senior Applications Engineer will:
• Design, develop, and maintain ETL processes using SSIS to extract, transform, and load data from multiple healthcare systems.
• Build and support C# applications and automation tools to streamline healthcare data workflows and integrations.
• Create and maintain Tableau dashboards and SQL-based reports that deliver actionable insights for clinical, operational, and business stakeholders.
• Integrate internal and third-party systems through RESTful and SOAP APIs, ensuring compliance with data standards such as HL7 and FHIR.
• Automate data workflows and reduce manual processes to improve efficiency and consistency.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data quality, integration, automation, and system performance.
• Collaborate with clinicians, analysts, and IT teams to understand requirements and develop practical data solutions.
• Maintain documentation and version control for all development work while supporting best practices for data management and reporting.

Qualifications
• Proven experience designing and maintaining SSIS-based ETL processes.
• Strong proficiency in C# and SQL for integration, automation, and reporting.
• Experience using Tableau or similar platforms for healthcare data visualization.
• Knowledge of REST and SOAP APIs and familiarity with HL7/FHIR standards.
• Experience automating workflows and scheduling ETL jobs; scripting knowledge (PowerShell, Python) a plus.
• Familiarity with version control systems (Git, TFS).
• Excellent analytical, communication, and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively within a healthcare IT environment.
