Your greatest work is ahead!

Leidos’ Defense Systems Manufacturing is seeking a Sector Master Production Scheduler to join our team to lead and support the creation and ongoing management of our company-wide Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) and Master Production Scheduling (MPS) processes. This is a transformative, highly visible individual contributor role responsible for establishing the frameworks, tools, and governance needed to align demand, supply, and capacity across multiple facilities.

Once established, this role will then transition to sustain, manage, and own the enterprise-level master production schedule within our ERP (Deltek Costpoint), ensuring consistent flowdown to Material Requirements Planning (MRP) and plant-level execution.

This is a highly visible leader-amongst-peers position with functional authority.  It is central to building the discipline and cadence that will enable predictable delivery of complex Make-to-Order (MTO) and Engineer-to-Order (ETO) products.

Primary Responsibilities

S&OP Process Development & Leadership

  • Lead and support the design, rollout, and continuous improvement of the company’s Defense Sector S&OP process from Operations’ perspective.

  • Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, Program Management, and Finance to establish system structure, planning inputs, cadence, and decision-making forums.

  • Build the structure and governance for aligning enterprise demand forecasts, capacity constraints, and production commitments.

Master Scheduling & Transition to Sustainment

  • Develop, own, and maintain the sector-wide Master Production Schedule (MPS) within Deltek Costpoint aligning program demand, plant capacity, and material availability.

  • Develop and implement scheduling policies, rules, and data standards to ensure integrity of ERP planning outputs.

  • Serve as the central point of contact for schedule scenario planning, risk analysis, and recovery strategies.

  • Serve as the single point of coordination between Program Management, Supply Chain, Operations, and Finance to align production commitments.

  • Define and maintain planning rules, time fences, and scheduling parameters within Deltek Costpoint.

  • Ensure consistent schedule flow-down to site-level MRP and Resource Schedulers.

Cross-Plant Demand Alignment and Governance

  • Integrate and rationalize demand signals from multiple programs and contracts into a unified build plan.

  • Identify and resolve demand conflicts between plants, programs, or shared resources.

  • Establish standard processes, KPIs, and escalation paths for local schedulers to ensure consistent ERP execution.

  • Partner with site schedulers to translate the enterprise MPS into executable site-level plans.

  • Build a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement across the scheduling function.

Capacity & Resource Planning

  • Conduct Rough-Cut Capacity Planning (RCCP) across facilities to identify load imbalances and resource constraints. Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, and Program Management to align resource availability with production plans.

  • Perform “what-if” scenario analyses to evaluate schedule changes, supply disruptions, or customer shifts

  • Support leadership decision-making with clear data on trade-offs between schedule, capacity, and cost.

Schedule Integrity

  • Monitor schedule adherence across plants and drive root-cause analysis for significant deviations.

  • Provide proactive visibility to leadership on schedule risks, material shortages, and recovery plans.

  • Facilitate the sector-level production planning cadence (weekly reviews, S&OP meetings, and executive updates).

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Act as a bridge between Program Management, Supply Chain, Operations, and Finance to align production priorities with customer and business needs.

  • Collaborate with Site Production Control Managers and Schedulers to ensure process compliance and data integrity.

  • Provide timely and transparent communication of schedule risks, trade-offs, and mitigation plans to senior leadership.

  • Partner with IT and ERP support teams to optimize Costpoint MRP/MPS performance and usability.

  • Drive data-driven decision-making and support continuous improvement initiatives across the production planning function.

Success Factors

  • Strong systems thinker with the ability to connect enterprise demand, program milestones, and plant capacity.

  • Skilled communicator who can influence across functional and organizational boundaries without direct authority.

  • Strategic yet hands-on — equally comfortable designing the long-range planning process and adjusting near-term build plans.

  • Passion for ERP-driven discipline and standardized planning.

  • Analytical and decisive, with a bias toward proactive problem-solving.

  • Leadership presence that inspires collaboration across facilities while enforcing standardization.

  • Passion for building a standardized, disciplined scheduling culture that leverages ERP to its fullest potential.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or related field with 12+ years of progressive experience in production planning, scheduling, or supply chain management.

  • Demonstrated mastery of ERP-based scheduling processes (Deltek Costpoint experience strongly preferred).

  • Strong understanding of S&OP, MPS, MRP, RCCP, and CRP methodologies.

  • Proven ability to analyze complex multi-site production systems and drive cross-functional alignment.

  • Advanced Excel and data visualization skills; experience with Power BI or equivalent tools desirable.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance if required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, or related field.

  • APICS CPIM or CSCP certification (or equivalent professional credential).

  • Experience establishing S&OP or similar planning processes in a multi-plant environment.

  • Experience managing scheduling functions across multiple plants with shared resources.

  • Background in Engineer-to-Order (ETO) and Make-to-Order (MTO) manufacturing environments.

  • Familiarity with electronics assembly, machining, and/or complex systems integration production processes.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and change management skills.

  • Track record of implementing standardized scheduling processes and KPIs in a multi-plant setting.
