Cleveland-Cliffs, New Carlisle Works facility located in New Carlisle, Indiana, has an immediate opportunity for a Section Manager Maintenance. The position is responsible for overseeing the maintenance team to ensure production goals are met adequately and in a timely manner. Summary of Responsibilities:
- Create and manage OPEX R&M budgets for the department. Perform daily cost management with the team to spend to budget.
- Manage a small group of mechanical and electrical equipment engineers.
- Develop CAPEX project goals with the engineering team.
- Participate in divisions business unit meeting schedules.
- Provide leadership to teams ensuring employees performing maintenance activities are trained and qualified to perform them.
- Monitor expenditures versus plan and manages accordingly.
- Ensure teams effective implementation of maintenance and preventative maintenance programs and schedules.
- Continuously track key KPI’s to identify opportunities for improvement in costs, quality, customer service, health and safety, plant operations and work with your team to implement continuous improvement.
- Establish appropriate, timely reporting system setting out progress against objectives, with follow-up action steps where necessary.
- Develop the team to use computerized maintenance management system for tracking work orders, spare parts, and maintenance history of plant equipment.
- Ensure the team maintains preventative maintenance schedule for all assets.
- Guide teams to manage inventory of required parts and liaison with the purchaser to ensure the appropriate levels are maintained.
- Ensure the proper training is complete prior to the assignment of any tasks.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of technical and mechanical trades experience in a high paced manufacturing field or equivalent amount of engineering (civil / electrical / mechanical / industrial) experience
- Exhibits strong leadership qualities and possesses well-developed analytical and communication skills (verbal and written)
- Experience with management of multi-trade divisional maintenance staff or outside contractors to achieve timely completion of tasks
- Experience with managing electrical and mechanical engineers
- Knowledge of maintenance software, Microsoft Office (advanced Excel, Word, Outlook, teams, SharePoint), preventive/predictive maintenance strategies and quality standards
- Demonstrated leadership and problem-solving skills
- Experience with computerized maintenance management system
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5-7 years’ experience in a manufacturing facility
- Steel manufacturing experience
- OSHA safety experience and knowledge
