A healthier future. It’s what drives us to innovate. To continuously advance science and ensure everyone has access to the healthcare they need today and for generations to come. Creating a world where we all have more time with the people we love. That’s what makes us Roche.
Advances in AI, data, and computational sciences are transforming drug discovery and development. Roche’s Research and Early Development organisations at Genentech (gRED) and Pharma (pRED) have demonstrated how these technologies accelerate R&D, leveraging data and novel computational models to drive impact. Seamless data sharing and access to models across gRED and pRED are essential to maximising these opportunities. The new Computational Sciences Center of Excellence (CS CoE) is a strategic, unified group whose goal is to harness this transformative power of data and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to assist our scientists in both pRED and gRED to deliver more innovative and transformative medicines for patients worldwide.
The Data and Digital Catalysts (DDC) department within the CS CoE is a diverse, curious and action-driven team at the intersection of science, engineering, and computation and with ambition to advance our technical excellence. The focus of the team is on partnering with the informatics and scientific communities to create a computational and data ecosystem that powers scientific discovery and accelerates decision making. We aim to modernize our ability to acquire, store, link, share, find and analyze data across the organization through scalable and integrated solutions that truly make every data point count.
Reporting to the Domain Head of Assay Workflows within DDC, this Product Lead will play a pivotal role in defining and guiding the strategy and execution for a product family, such as in vivo research. The Assay Workflows team builds trusted partnerships with scientific stakeholders. Team members deeply understand and translate the “why” and define the “what” for their sub-area, creating actionable roadmaps that enable scalable and integrated assay workflows. This role drives innovation by enhancing assay data workflows, from requesting to data reporting. The candidate will work closely with scientists, the domain head, and other product family leads to align on priorities and maximize impact across the broader RED organization.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute by advancing cutting-edge workflows and solutions. Your work will accelerate drug discovery and portfolio progression, making a meaningful impact on Roche’s mission to deliver innovative therapies to patients.
Join the Assay Workflows domain as a Scientific Digital Product Lead and shape the future of preclinical research at Roche. We're looking for a Product Lead to revolutionize our Assay Workflows, turning complex scientific needs into a clear, actionable roadmap. You will be the central force driving the integration of automation and emerging technologies to build the scalable, sustainable data pipelines our scientists and AI/ML teams need. If you are an expert who understands both in vitro/in vivo research and cutting-edge product/project management, this is your chance to join the Assay Workflows team.
Develop and refine the product family strategy within the Assay Workflows domain, ensuring alignment with key strategic initiatives. Enable seamless integration of products (applications/platforms) into our evolving data and digital ecosystem while contributing to the consolidation and deprecation of legacy systems, resulting in a reduction of technical debt.
Demonstrate a deep understanding of the needs of in vitro and in vivo scientists, applying strong data and digital acumen to shape the product family. Leverage this understanding to guide cross-functional teams, nurture stakeholder partnerships, and manage their expectations, ensuring the execution of initiatives that deliver tangible value to our scientists.
Collaborate with technical and data experts to guide and enable the development of assay data workflows that incorporate automation and modular concepts, driving faster and higher-quality insights from assay data.
Understand and translate the needs of scientists and the business into actionable plans. Drive business analysis, demonstrate advanced product and program/project management skills, prioritize tasks within a given framework, effectively manage budgets, and oversee external workforce contributions.
Boldly advocate for future-facing solutions by anticipating emerging capabilities and integrating them into strategic roadmaps. Identify key trends, technologies, and methodologies to ensure innovation and long-term competitiveness.
Build and cultivate trusted internal and external partnerships with collaborators across the CS CoE, pRED/gRED, and beyond, fostering effective teamwork in a global setting.
At Roche, we seek individuals who are inspired by our mission and thrive in a culture defined by curiosity, innovation, and an entrepreneurial mindset. We recognize that our employees are essential to our success in delivering transformative medicines to patients. That’s why we are dedicated to fostering an exceptional workplace that fuels your growth, encourages meaningful collaboration, and empowers you to create a lasting impact on global healthcare.
The ideal candidate will meet many of the following requirements:
You hold a PhD or Master’s degree in life sciences or computer science, with more than 3 years of relevant professional experience in drug discovery, with focus on data and digital.
You demonstrate strong scientific expertise in the in vitro and/or in vivo space, with a deep understanding of assay data workflows. Technical and engineering skills (e.g., Python) are an advantage to develop and improve assay data workflows and digital solutions.
You are a quick learner who thrives on embracing new challenges and sees them as opportunities for scientific and computational innovation.
You demonstrate a combination of strategic thinking and a "get things done" mindset, balancing long-term planning with hands-on execution to deliver impactful outcomes. You excel in navigating uncertain situations with adaptability and focus.
You have a proven ability to lead complex projects involving multiple teams and stakeholders. Experience in product or project management, business analysis, or software development is highly valued, with prior work in a drug discovery setting preferred.
You have outstanding collaboration as well as presentation and communication skills in English, with the ability to tailor messages to diverse audiences, build consensus, and effectively manage stakeholder expectations.
You are familiar with software development processes, including gathering requirements, designing solutions, and leading implementation, testing, and delivery. You are skilled in creating clear documentation, such as user stories, business processes, or system requirements.
You have a forward-thinking and agile mindset, with a passion for innovation and curiosity. You are skilled at integrating emerging technologies and trends into assay workflows, prioritizing value delivery, and fostering continuous improvement.
