Runoff Technician

Summary/Objective
Runoff technician is the final step before manufactured plastics machines are shipped to customers. The Runoff Technician tests machines, equipment and their subassemblies following layouts, electrical circuits and other written and verbal specifications. They troubleshoot and isolate all electrical, hydraulic and mechanical machine problems prior to shipping to customers.

  • Understand and support Company philosophies, goals and directions including ISO 9001 and 14001 policies and procedures.

  • Demonstrate flexibility when confronted with high stress / emergency situations, priority changes, or new assignments.

  • Have a good working knowledge of safety in material handling.

  • Know, understand and use the Missing Parts System.

  • Properly document the runoff process by completing all applicable paperwork.

  • Read, comprehend, and interpret assembly layouts, hydraulic circuits, and wiring diagrams.

  • Be able to troubleshoot and isolate all electrical, hydraulic and mechanical machine problems.

  • Have a good working knowledge of standard and special runoff tooling used in the area.

  • Recognize problems with electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic designs and suggest corrective actions.

  • Recognize part malfunctions and take corrective actions.

  • Perform all standard and most special runoff operations.

  • Maintain the department / area standards in areas of housekeeping, attendance and teamwork.

  • Interact professionally with customers in the plant and field.

  • Produce and maintain a high quality of work.

  • Practice good communications; train employees/customers.

  • Be familiar with and practice the machine lockout procedures.

  • Recommend improvements for area product and processes.

  • Demonstrate personal leadership; actively participate in problem solving and continuous improvement efforts.

  • Job report labor correctly and in a timely manner.

Work Environment

Employee may be regularly exposed to moving equipment, mechanical parts in motion, risk of shock and other hazards associated with a manufacturing environment such as overhead cranes, welding, machining, painting etc.

Physical Demands

Employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach, talk, hear, taste or smell. Climb or balance, stoop, kneel, reach, stretch, crouch.

Lift or move up to 50 pounds.

Vision requires close focus, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, depth perception and focus adjustment.

 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Must be available for OT/Weekends as needed

Required Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Associate's degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or 1 to 3 years of related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
