Medina Hospital’s 2 South Unit is a 25-bed complex medicine unit recognized for its compassionate, patient-first care, skilled nursing team and supportive work environment. As an RN on this unit, you will care for pre-surgical patients and those requiring antibiotic therapy and wound care, perform advanced dressing changes and assist with bedside thoracentesis and paracentesis procedures while collaborating with fellow caregivers to provide a welcoming, healing and safe environment for all patients. You will focus on enhancing care, helping facilitate a transformative experience for patients of all ages, medical histories and demographics.

This is a regular PRN position, with caregivers working varying shifts between 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. 

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Provide direct nursing care. 

  • Implement and monitor patient care plans.  

  • Monitor, record and communicate patients’ conditions.  

  • Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.  

  • Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs. 

  • Maintain professional growth and development through ongoing formal and informal education and clinical nursing study.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Graduate from an accredited school of Professional Nursing

  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross

  • Two years of recent related nursing experience for external applicants

  • Less than two years of experience, but post-orientation/90-day probationary period considered with the Chief Nursing Officer level review and approval for internal applicants  

  • Military RN experience considered

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

  • Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.

  • Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.

  • Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

  • Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.

  • Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.

  • Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

  • Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
