About The Role:
To define and drive the long-term strategy to aggressively grow the Korea business. This role will play an important voice at the leadership table, providing a strong and challenging influence across the entire market leadership team bringing thought leadership and energy to challenge their market’s sales strategies by continuously developing new and existing channel alternatives. The incumbent will need to navigate the early ambiguity they will face whilst establishing the positioning, ways of working and ongoing rhythm of the role to champion for the direct approach.
To be successful the role must provide powerful cross-functional leadership and influence. They will have a small, focused team of direct reports reporting into them, but achievement of the direct agenda will be largely dependent on them collaborating closely with all functions within the market (Customer Services, Marketing, Trade Marketing & Demand Planning, Logistics, etc) and leading delivery via a virtual, ‘dotted line’ team, sharing ownership for driving the overall performance, success and profitability of their market’s business.
MAIN ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Key responsibilities
1. Set the market vision for direct customer selling and experiences through both existing and new channels.
- Be a visible and inspiring figurehead, leading the charge to bring direct customer opportunities to life; build and maintain the interest, confidence and momentum that rapidly boosts the range and effectiveness of direct/indirect channels.
- Define the long-term strategy to build a sustainable business, based on local market dynamics and Dyson group principles.
- Create and galvanise people behind clear strategic plans that will fully exploit opportunities whilst growing overall market profitability and protecting the Dyson brand.
2. Deliver A sales to drive revenue and maximize profitability
- Drive effective channel strategies that optimise retail opportunities and Dyson profitably in line with Korea goals
- Responsible for delivering monthly sales volumes and communicating to the KR leadership team and wider business any changes to budget, target.
- Effectively manage the KR promotional spend budget to deliver the best return on investment through a transparent approval process
- Own the content of the monthly volume forecast submitted to Group
- Manage costs to maximise profitability
3. Deliver the strategy to aggressively grow the business in both the immediate and longer term.
- Drive first class execution of strategies and activities across the wide range of customer touchpoints – e.g. but not limited to below
- Department stores.
- Demo zones, live events, pop-up stores, experiential marketing, strategic partnerships
- Dyson outlet store
- Work collaboratively with all relevant teams – in market and in the Group commercial teams – to develop and ensure that all necessary building blocks (people, processes and systems) needed to deliver against direct ambitions are effectively in place.
- Provide direct line management of sales functions as appropriate for the market.
- Provide the strong and broad based, cross-functional leadership necessary to assure participation, collaboration and consistent delivery of the agreed direct strategies by the range of ‘matrixed’ customer facing functions.
- Bring a single-minded focus to strive for seamless, advocacy-creating direct customer experiences.
- Ensure customer journeys across all sales channels make sense and always deliver.
- Collaborate closely with functions that impact customer delivery – e.g. e-commerce, dot.com, logistics, supply, property.
- Bring personal passion to safeguard the wide range of operational details impacting direct customer experiences – whether store experience, store property portfolio considerations, etc.
4. Retail business management and development.
- Responsible for delivering monthly sales volumes, managing expenses, and communicating to the management team and wider business unit for any changes to budget, target or LE.
- Develop channel strategy considering market dynamics, consumer insights, and opportunities.
- Develop and implement joint business planning across major retailers.
- Responsible for upskilling the capability of the Account management team and field sales team to increase effectiveness and rate of sale per store – driving best practice across the country.
- Responsible for retail excellence
- Manage and optimize FTE including 3rd party vendors.
- Develop retail footprint (demo & dept stores & EM)
5. Retail store managements
- Responsible for overall performance, productivity and ROI of retail stores to ensure high-quality customer experience
- Develop effective sales strategies tailored for each retailer and its stores
- Ensure a healthy talent pipeline by fostering the development and growth of store staff, contributing to the achievement of overall company sales goals.
- Manage relationships with retailers and key stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures and local regulations
6. Test, learn, share and continuously grow sales capabilities.
- Actively engage with the virtual, global leadership team; share own market findings, explore new ideas, and borrow inspiration from other markets and industries.
- Review resource and capability requirements to continue expansion of business.
About You:
- Career background:
- Experience: Minimum 20+ years of progressive commercial experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership/Director-level role overseeing a significant retail or direct-to-consumer (DTC) operation in the Korean market.
- Deep expertise in managing and optimizing a multi-channel retail network in Korea, including Department Stores, hyper markets, and experiential/DTC channels.
- Extensive experience in Premium Consumer Electronics, Luxury Goods, or High-End Consumer Products with a proven track record of growing a premium brand's market share and profitability.
- Demonstrated success in full Profit & Loss (P&L) management and accountability for high-volume sales targets and promotional budgets (Trade Spend) with a focus on maximizing ROI and profitability.
- Managing in a matrix structure
- Proven ability to provide powerful cross-functional leadership and influence stakeholders across a matrix organization (Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance, Global/Regional teams)
- ‘General management’ capabilities to direct activities across a broad range of different disciplines (e.g. negotiating contracts, managing properties, practicalities of implementing direct strategies)
