Engineering | Computer Science and Engineering

Develops data management libraries, optimizes data movement performance in applications; develops software, integrates data management solutions in scientific and industry applications; initiates and leads research and development in the areas of data management systems for high performance computing (HPC), parallel computing systems; collaborates with faculty, research staff, graduate and undergraduate students, and/or technical support staff at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering.

Serves as a co-Principal Investigator (co-PI) or key personnel on research grants and contracts; initiates, sustains, and concludes sponsored research projects; serves as liaison with sponsoring agencies and organizations as well as other research and educational institutions.

Helps faculty in preparing research proposals for development and continuation of various research areas; develops new systems, topics for future investigations, and enhanced capability.

Coordinates analysis of research findings; prepares detailed summaries for sponsoring agencies; prepares reports and journal papers; makes presentations at conferences and symposia.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or related field of study and 3 years of experience in data management and analysis systems, such as Apache Spark.
  • Excellent in programming in C/C++ (kernels, file systems and drivers).
  • Experience in high-performance computing systems, storage and I/O.
  • Extensive knowledge on parallel file systems, GPUs, and their trends. (more than 3 years of working with these systems)
  • Experience with programming/scripting.

OR

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science with 5 years of relevant experience in data management and analysis systems, such as Apache Spark.
  • Excellent in programming in C/C++ (kernels, file systems and drivers).
  • Experience in high-performance computing systems, storage and I/O.
  • Extensive knowledge on parallel file systems, GPUs, and their trends; (more than 3 years of working with these systems)
  • Experience with programming/scripting.

Desired

  • Extensive experience in parallel programming with MPI, OpenMP, Python(more than 3 years of working with these technologies)
  • Experience working with data management and I/O libraries, such as HDF5 and NetCDF. (more than 3 years of working with these technologies)
  • The candidate should have good communication skills, writing skills, and experience working in teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; willingness to learn new systems and technologies.
  • Knowledge of high performance computing storage systems. (more than 3 years of working with these technologies)

Additional Information:

The target hiring range for this job profile is $75,700 - $98,900. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limit to, education, years of experience, internal equity, etc.
