The Centre for Urban Solutions is a research centre under the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at Nanyang Technological University. The key objective is to support efforts to provide leadership in developing innovative solutions and sustainable technologies for space creation and urban infrastructure development.

We are looking for a Research Fellow to be based in School of CEE and work on a research project. The role will focus on performing independent and collaborative research to meet the research project objectives, to develop new solutions, and to publish high-quality journal papers to promote the international reputation of the Centre and the University.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct in-depth research on using nature-based material to create barriers that prevent coastal erosion, accumulate sediments, and restore land lost to seawater.
Design and oversee laboratory experiments to test the performance of barriers under simulated wave conditions.
Perform numerical study of the model test. Analyze and interpret data to make informed recommendations for costal protection system design and optimization
Writing and publication of results in peer-reviewed journals
Assist in securing external funding through grant applications and proposals.
Job Requirements:
PhD qualification degree in Civil Engineering, Coastal Engineering and Geological Engineering or related field
At least 2 years of relevant research experience in similar roles
Familiarity with biogeotechnics, geotechnical foundation and coastal structure design
Good written and oral communication skills
Proficiency in MATLAB, FEM, numeric and analytical skills
Competence in laboratory testing design and implementation
Publication track record is an advantage
Ability to work independently and develop solutions under strict timelines
