The National Institute of Education invites suitable applications for the position of full-time Research Assistant (Graphic Designer) on a six-month contract at the Science of Learning in Education Centre (SoLEC).
Project Title: Cerebrovascular Health, Adult Learning, Resilience and Mechanisms: CHARM Study
Project Introduction: As part of CHARM study, we will develop learning pedagogy for middle aged adults based on the principles of neuropsychological pedagogy and life-style interventions. Two learning packages will be designed with each package comprising a pre-course, course, and post-course components. The course components will include lectures, group-activities, and homework. The content will be developed by our team, in close collaboration with adult learners, through interviews and focus group sessions comprising learners of various age groups and occupational-types.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design or similar areas
- Desirable interests, skills, and attributes:
- Technical skills:
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and other design tools such as Figma, Canva, or Sketch
- Strong understanding of layout, typography, color theory, and visual hierarchy
- Experience in both digital and print design, including preparing files for production
- Ability to create and optimize graphics for web, social media, and marketing materials
- Familiarity with UI/UX design principles and basic knowledge of HTML/CSS is an asset
- Competence in photo editing, retouching, and image optimization.
- Knowledge of branding and visual identity development
- Understanding of file formats, resolution, and color modes for various media output
- Experience with motion graphics or video editing (e.g., After Effects, Premiere Pro) is a plus

Responsibilities:
- To develop the overall layout and production design for the education packages for adult learners such as models, infographics, figures, and videos
- To create visual and audio concepts to communicate ideas that inspire, inform, and captivate adult learners
- To design other materials to disseminate research findings targeting the general public and academic audiences
- To perform other tasks as required by the Principal Investigators
