Full-time, fixed-term position through to 31 December 2026
Base salary will range from $82,057 - $136,048 (Academic Level A or B) + 17% Superannuation
Based at our Dutton Park campus
We have an exciting opportunity available for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow or Research Fellow to join our world-class research team at Queensland Alliance for Environmental Health Sciences (QAEHS) within our Faculty of Health, Medicine and Behavioural Sciences.
Supported by several NHMRC and ARC research grants awarded to Dr Fisher Wang, this is an opportunity to conduct independent research within the field of environmental analytical chemistry. A major objective for these projects will be to establish analytical approaches for target and suspect analytes in human fluids/tissues and environmental samples using LC-MS/MS, GC-MS/MS and high-resolution mass spectrometry. You will develop sensitive methods with excellent quality control, be able to interpret high-resolution mass spectrometry data, conduct MS/MS experiments, and quantify or semi-quantify analytes in complex samples. You will also have opportunities to contribute to research project design and funding applications, and gain leadership experience supervising students engaged in these activities.
This role requires strong mass spectrometry skills which will allow you to develop target and non-target analytical methods for organic contaminants in complex samples. You will hold extensive demonstrated experience with operating and troubleshooting LC-MSMS, GC-MSMS, GC-HRMS and/or LC-HRMS instruments. Moreover, your excellent laboratory skills will include experience with extraction and purification techniques for a range of organic contaminants in biotic and abiotic matrices and demonstrated experience with different sampling techniques for organic pollutants. In addition, you will be able to perform in-depth and critical data analyses and, where relevant, data modelling.
This opportunity is being offered at Academic Level A or B commensurate with the successful candidate’s qualifications, skills and experience.
We encourage all applications, both domestic and international. Subject to individual eligibility, we may support the successful applicant with obtaining employer-sponsored work rights. The successful candidate will also be required to complete mandatory immunisations.
