Repair Technician

Repairs products returned with defects and communicates with the customer and vendor.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

Identifies defects in products and determining necessary procedures for repair.

Repairs and/or replacing defective parts in products.

Tests products after repair and ensures factory specifications have been met.

Organizes and maintains inventory and customer records in the Repair Department.

Communicates accurate information and guidance regarding products, costs, and repairs to customers, coworkers, and management.

Maintains an organized work area including equipment, storage, and repair parts.

Completes tasks within given timeframes without compromising quality.

Nature and Scope

  • Refers complex, unusual problems to supervisor.

  • Under general supervision, exercises some judgment in accordance with well-defined policies, procedures, and techniques. Work typically involves regular review of output by a senior coworker or supervisor.

  • None.

Work Environment

  • Usually located in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors causing moderate physical discomfort, such as dust, fumes, or odors.

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds in a physical environment. Ability to stand for periods of time up to and exceeding 60 minutes. Ability to make repetitive movements, such as using a 10-key or calculator, bending, or squatting.

  • No travel required.

Education and Experience

  • HS Diploma or GED strongly preferred. Specialized skills training/certification may be required. Generally, 2-5 years of experience in area of responsibility.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Must have comprehensive knowledge of two and four-stroke gasoline engines and working knowledge of hydraulics and electric solenoid valves.

  • Demonstrates knowledge on single and three-phase electric motors; Comfortable diagnosing electrical, mechanical, hydraulic components on own.

  • Five years’ experience working with common hand and power tools.

Pay Range

$28.75-$40.25 Hourly
