The Regional Claims Manager will assist the AVP, EPL claims in managing a team of EPL claims managers as well as direct handling of EPL, fiduciary, and other Financial Lines claims within the Financial and Professional Lines (FLPL) Claims Group. Prior experience handling FLPL claims, including primary public, private, and non-profit EPL claims is required. Prior experience handling EPL and private D&O claims involving universities and colleges is a plus. The successful candidate will be required to evaluate coverage, draft coverage correspondence, undertake claims investigations, manage defense counsel and legal spend, assess liability and financial exposure, and effectively negotiate cost effective, good faith claims resolutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctor preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in the insurance/legal profession dealing specifically with FLPL claims.
  • Prior management experience preferred.
  • Experience handling primary public, private and non-profit EPL, fiduciary liability (ERISA), and private D&O claims involving employment related facts is preferred. Carrier experience a plus.
  • In-depth understanding of policy language/coverage.
  • Experience managing, evaluating, mediating and negotiating FLPL claims.
  • In-depth knowledge of the U.S. legal system, civil litigation, and ADR proceedings.
  • Comprehensive understanding and knowledge of federal and state laws applicable to various claims presented under FLPL policies.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
