The Opportunity

This position works out of our Woodridge location in Little Canada, MN.

As an R&D Engineer II in the Heart Valve R&D team, you will contribute to the design, development, and testing of next-generation transcatheter and surgical heart valve technologies. You will work cross-functionally with clinical, quality, manufacturing, and regulatory teams to bring innovative cardiovascular solutions from concept to commercialization.

What You’ll Work On

  • Support the design and development of heart valve systems, delivery catheters, and associated components.
  • Conduct engineering analysis, prototyping, and testing to evaluate design concepts and performance.
  • Develop and execute test protocols for design verification and validation in compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., ISO 5840, FDA guidance).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define product requirements and risk assessments (e.g., FMEA).
  • Analyze data, prepare technical reports, and present findings to internal stakeholders.
  • Participate in design reviews and contribute to design history file (DHF) documentation.
  • Support preclinical and clinical builds, including coordination with manufacturing and suppliers.
  • Ensure compliance with quality systems and design control processes.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • 2–4 years of experience in medical device product development, preferably in cardiovascular or structural heart.
  • Familiarity with CAD tools (e.g., SolidWorks), statistical analysis, and mechanical testing.
  • Understanding of design controls, risk management, and regulatory requirements for Class III devices.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in engineering or related discipline.
  • Experience with heart valve design, polymeric materials, or catheter-based delivery systems.
  • Knowledge of anatomical modeling, finite element analysis (FEA), or computational fluid dynamics (CFD).
  • Hands-on experience with preclinical testing or clinical trial support.

The base pay for this position is

$60,000.00 – $120,000.00

In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
