Rocky Mountain Steel Mills in Pueblo, Colorado is seeking a Quality Manager to lead and facilitate the implementation of quality initiatives and their continual improvement specific to the seamless tube mill.  This role is responsible for leading the quality engineering activities, coaching and facilitating problem solving, analysis of data and continuous improvement activities related to seamless products.  Experience with or rapid education in relevant standards will be an important part of this position.  Communication both written and verbal will be crucial to the success of this position to keep all team members, operations, and management informed of quality metrics and improvement efforts.

Job Description and Responsibilities

  • Manage, lead and develop a team of quality, testing and inspection personnel
  • Develop maintenance and continuous improvement strategies for Quality Management Systems by reviewing, updating, training and verifying improvement effectiveness.
  • Communicate industry and customer standards and specifications to operations.
  • Lead the analysis of nonconforming products utilizing a team consisting of quality, operations, laboratory and NDT analysis, R&D, technical services, etc. and communicate findings.
  • Oversee the organization and management of quality assurance documents: standard operating procedures, gauge management, trainings
  • Oversee the root cause analysis of customer complaints and concerns, summarize key findings, identify next steps, implement corrective action processes, and communicate with customers.
  • Summarize and submit supplier quality claims as required.
  • Oversee the internal and external audits.
  • Develop and implement escalation plans utilized to minimum nonconforming material while addressing ongoing quality issues

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Chemical Engineering
  • 2-5 years quality experience as a Quality Engineer or Quality Supervisor
  • Six Sigma Green Belt training with Black Belt Training preferred
  • Experience working in steel mill processes, heavy manufacturing preferred
  • Knowledge of API and ISO standards preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft tools: Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint
  • Experience applying root cause problem solving methods  (8D, Ishikawa diagrams, Failure Mode Effects Analysis, etc.)

Compensation

$115,000 - $130,000

Open & Closing Dates: 11/5/2025 - 12/16/2025
