Position Overview
We are seeking a Director of Quality Management to lead our quality assurance team in support our industry leading software products and services for the automotive, industrial automation, medical device, and robotics markets. This role is pivotal in ensuring our products and services meet and exceed stringent functional safety, cybersecurity, and regulatory standards, while fostering a culture of continuous improvement, process excellence, and engineering rigor.
General Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and grow the QNX Quality team, fostering a world-class quality culture across the organization.
- Drive continuous improvement of the QNX Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring alignment with ISO 9001 and other relevant standards.
- Champion a quality-first mindset across engineering, product, and customer-facing teams, with a focus on embedded software reliability, safety, and security.
- Collaborate with development and product management to balance safety, quality, and commercial requirements across diverse industries.
- Support internal and external audits, including ISO 9001:2015 and customer-specific assessments.
- Contribute to quality-related responses for RFPs, customer questionnaires, and technical evaluations.
- Work directly with customers as it pertains to quality and process items including quality questionnaires and in-person audits.
- Participate in cross-functional meetings related to product lifecycle, quality strategy, and compliance.
Quality Strategy & Governance
- Define and implement a unified quality strategy across embedded verticals (automotive, industrial, medical, robotics).
- Maintain and evolve a robust QMS tailored to embedded software development and regulatory requirements.
- Lead initiatives to embed quality into every phase of the embedded software lifecycle, from requirements to release.
Compliance & Standards
- Ensure compliance with key standards including: ISO 9001, CMMI, ISO 26262, ISO/SAE 21434, ASPICE, IEC 61508, ISO 13849, IEC 62304, EN 50128, DO-178C.
- Oversee internal audits, gap assessments, and certification readiness for embedded software platforms.
- Collaborate with regulatory bodies and customers to ensure transparency and trust in safety-critical deployments.
- Help Ensure end-to-end traceability from requirements through design, implementation, testing, and release.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Build and mentor a high-performing quality and compliance team with embedded systems expertise.
- Partner with engineering, product, legal, and customer teams to align quality goals with business and technical objectives.
- Represent the company in customer audits, industry forums, and regulatory engagements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in embedded software quality management, preferably in safety-critical industries.
- Proven expertise in ISO 26262, IEC 61508, ASPICE, ISO/SAE 21434, and relevant medical or industrial standards.
- Strong understanding of RTOS, low-level software, hardware-software integration, and real-time constraints.
- Experience with SDLC, Agile, and DevOps practices adapted for embedded environments.
- Hands-on experience with JAMA, JIRA, GitHub, Confluence, and related tools.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Certifications such as TÜV Functional Safety Engineer, ASPICE Provisional Assessor, or ISO Lead Auditor are a plus.
