What you'll be doing
As a member of CIBC’s DT QA team, the QE co-ordinator, IT Quality Assurance is responsible for developing and executing test scenarios and scripts for functional system integration and acceptance testing across multiple platforms, in compliance with established controls, standards, policies, and procedures. The QE co-ordinator troubleshoots problems and provides technical training to less experienced employees, maintaining test system configurations and executing test scripts using test tools for compliance with testing standards. The role proactively addresses problems within the scope of responsibility and identifies areas for improvement.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, publishing, and executing comprehensive test plans, test cases, traceability matrices, automation scripts, virtualization solutions, status reports, defect logs, and exit reports. They will manage defects throughout their lifecycle, identify and secure required test data and environments, and develop, publish, and execute testing estimates and financials. This role involves managing and leading the testing activities for projects or workstreams, as well as overseeing a team of test analysts, including capacity management, performance management, productivity, quality of work, and compliance requirements. The candidate will ensure strict adherence to QA/QE standards and support the implementation of new standards, while proactively recognizing areas for improvement in policies, processes, procedures, and methodologies. Tracking and reporting QA/QE metrics and KPIs, such as velocity and defect slippage, are integral to the role, as is identifying, managing, and remediating noncompliance items and deviations. Development experience is essential, including the ability to understand, provide feedback on, and challenge technical designs, as well as assess the impact of technical details on testing activities. The candidate must possess quality engineering experience, with the ability to identify and implement automation, AI, or emerging solutions to expedite testing, improve quality, and reduce costs. Extensive software quality assurance experience is required, with knowledge of activities, tasks, tools, and techniques for evaluating new or enhanced systems and software tools to ensure adherence to functionality and quality requirements. Additionally, the candidate should have a strong understanding of quality management methods and techniques, as well as problem-solving skills for recognizing and resolving organizational, operational, or process issues. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for success in this role.
