The ASPIRE Program is a significant, multi-year business transformation initiative at Roche, aiming to establish a unified, agile, and digital operational foundation for the entire company. This involves simplifying and harmonizing business processes across all divisions and geographies, creating seamless end-to-end processes from research to commercialization, and implementing a global IT template with SAP S/4HANA as the core ERP system. This drive towards a "One Roche" mindset and a single source of truth for data is key to enabling faster insights and more efficient operations.
We are actively seeking to fill two Product Owner positions to join the Quality Management Agile Release Train (ART) within the ASPIRE program. This is a crucial leadership role where you will act as the voice of the customer and business for your agile team, taking responsibility for defining and prioritizing the team's work to maximize the value delivered. As a key member of the Product Management team, you will collaborate closely with the Product Manager to translate the strategic product vision and features into actionable user stories. You will directly shape and deliver the IT solutions that standardize and optimize processes to ensure the highest quality standards across Roche.
Here are the key responsibilities for the Product Owner role:
Backlog Management & Execution: Own and manage the team-level backlog (user stories, defects, enablers). This involves breaking down Features from the Program Backlog into actionable user stories and defining their clear acceptance criteria.
Define and Prioritize: Actively define, write, and prioritize user stories to ensure the team fully understands what to build and why, maximizing business value.
Agile Team Collaboration: Participate actively in all Agile ceremonies (PI Planning, Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum, Sprint Reviews) and be readily available to the development team to clarify requirements, answer questions, and provide guidance.
Work Acceptance: Inspect and formally accept completed work from the development team to ensure it meets the defined acceptance criteria and Definition of Done (DoD).
Product Management Interface: Act as the primary interface between your agile team and the ART's Product Manager and Product Management team.
Alignment & Planning: Support the Product Manager in PI Planning by contributing to Feature prioritization, helping the team define its PI Objectives, and regularly syncing with other Product Owners to manage dependencies and ensure a unified approach.
Stakeholder Engagement: Represent the team and its work to stakeholders by providing progress updates and demonstrating completed functionality during System Demos, while facilitating communication to ensure a shared understanding of requirements and priorities.
You are a proactive and results-oriented professional passionate about leveraging technology to solve complex business challenges, with a customer-centric approach. You thrive on accountability and are a natural collaborator who can build consensus and inspire a team.
Education and Experience: You have a Bachelor’s degree in Business, IT, or a related field, along with proven experience as a Product Owner or Business Analyst in an IT environment, preferably within the pharmaceutical or life sciences industry.
Agile Expertise: You possess strong practical knowledge of Agile methodologies (SAFe, Scrum, Kanban) and proven experience in a scaled agile environment. Certification as a SAFe Product Owner/Product Manager (POPM) or Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) is a plus.
Domain Knowledge: You bring a deep functional understanding of Quality Management business processes. Functional knowledge of SAP S/4HANA Quality Management (QM) or a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) is preferred.
Core Skills: You have excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills, complemented by strong analytical and problem-solving abilities focused on delivering customer and business value.
Decision Maker: You have the ability to translate strategic business needs into a clear, actionable backlog and make timely, well-informed decisions in a fast-paced environment. Experience with large-scale, global business transformation programs and data-driven decision-making is beneficial.
