Psychiatry Nurse Practitioner - Psychiatry EmPATH

University of Minnesota Physicians is seeking a BC/BE Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our EmPATH (Emergency Psychiatric Assessment, Treatment, and Healing) practice at M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina, MN.

The EmPATH is an innovative approach to emergency medicine healthcare, designed to guide people safely through a current crisis while building skills that will support them through future challenges.

In This Role, You Will:

  • Join a team of multidisciplinary mental health specialists, including psychiatrists, psychiatric mental health nurse practitioners, licensed therapists, and psychiatric nurses in caring for acute mental health issues that come to the EmPATH unit.
  • Determine the best level of care for patients, provide acute treatment for occurring crisis, and assist with discharge planning when needed.
  • Work closely with ED providers in supporting the mental health patients in the ED.
  • Provide consultative support to the medical patients on-site and at other facilities via telemedicine.
  • Completes comprehensive substance use disorder assessment.
  • Provides basic alcohol and opioid withdrawal treatment.

Schedule:

  • Full-time 1.0 FTE
  • Day, afternoon and evening shifts during the week and weekend
  • No Call

We’re Looking for an NP or PA Who Is:

  • A graduate of an accredited Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant training program.
  • Eligible or is certified through ANCC or AANP or NCCPA.
  • Licensed or eligible to acquire a license and prescriptive authority through the MN Board of Medical Practice (PAs) or MN APRN license or eligible to acquire a license and prescriptive authority through MN Board of Nursing (NP’s).
  • Able to meet threshold criteria/qualifications for credentialing and privileges. 
  • At least 2 years of psychiatry APP practice experience

The full-time salary range is $150,000 - $ 170,000, commensurate with practice experience and may also include incentive compensation or additional specialty-specific compensation components. Salary prorated based on FTE.
