ABOUT THIS JOB

Position Specific Summary:

The Property Agent position at the City of Tucson’s General Services Department is responsible for assisting with routine property transactions, providing relocation assistance and ensuring compliance. This position supports the Real Estate Division with tasks related to real estate acquisition, disposition, property management, and other real estate services for various departments.

Work is performed under the supervision of the Real Estate Supervisor. This position does not supervise.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists senior personnel with property management of government-owned properties ensuring they meet safety, legal and operational standards. Handles leasing and rental agreements for government buildings and land. Provides support negotiating terms with tenants, while ensuring compliance with contracts. Collaborates with various teams to align property needs with project requirements.

  • Assists with facilitating the acquisition of new properties for government use. Communicates with the public, internal and external stakeholders utilizing electronic mail, telephone, and in-person meetings with a courteous and professional demeanor.

  • Reviews and interprets appraisal and title reports, subdivision plats, engineering and development plans. Conducts research of properties and property rights using Geographic Information System (GIS) map data, public records including legal descriptions, recorded documents and internal files.

  • Maintains electronic and paper files contemporaneously, documenting activity, relevant documents, and information germane to the file or project. Escalates any concerns to senior staff and management and provides support as needed.

  • Prepares basic transactional documents, forms, and legal documents required to complete transactions involving acquisition, disposition and property management or other real estate service processes.

  • Performs all other duties and tasks as assigned.

Working conditions as follows:

Work schedule may require early morning, late evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime.

Often works under the following conditions: Mostly office environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Required Qualifications:
Education: Associate’s degree
 
Work Experience: Two (2) years of related work experience.
 
Equivalency: Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
 
Valid and unrestricted Arizona Class D Driver License – Arizona Department of Transportation – Motor Vehicle Division
 
Preferred Qualifications:
Arizona Department of Real Estate (ADRE) License.

Training and/or Certifications from the International Right of Way Association.

Experience working on behalf of a public agency, municipality, public utility, or quasi-governmental entity.

Experience in commercial leasing/property management.

Experience reviewing title commitments or appraisals.
