Project Manager – 6-month Contract
Help operationalise a global reinsurance initiative at Challenger

  • Lead the transition from regulatory submission to operational readiness

  • Contribute to a high-impact project shaping Challenger’s international growth

  • Hybrid working: 3 days in our Sydney CBD office, 2 days from home

  • Contract runs from mid-January to June 2026, with a handover in December

About the role

Challenger is entering the next phase of a strategic global initiative, following the submission of a key regulatory licence application. We’re looking for a Project Manager to help bring this project to life — embedding processes, coordinating delivery, and supporting a smooth transition into business-as-usual operations.

You’ll play a central role in operationalising the project, working across teams to ensure readiness, structure, and momentum. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys turning strategy into action and thrives in collaborative, outcome-focused environments.

What you’ll be doing

  • Delivering operational outcomes: Support onboarding, process design, and handover planning

  • Refining project plans: Build out milestones and dependencies for the operational phase

  • Engaging stakeholders: Collaborate with internal teams and governance forums to align priorities

  • Managing risks and issues: Identify blockers and drive decisions to keep things moving

  • Supporting change: Help coordinate communications and ensure smooth transitions

  • Working with vendors: Manage external resources and align them with internal delivery timelines

What you’ll bring

  • 5+ years’ experience in project management, within financial services

  • Experience delivering operational outcomes in regulated or complex environments

  • Strong stakeholder engagement and governance skills

  • Familiarity with project tools such as JIRA and Confluence

  • Ability to work across both technical and business-focused workstreams

Bonus points if you have

  • Experience with regulatory capital projects (e.g. APRA)

  • Knowledge of life insurance liabilities, annuities, or reinsurance

  • Exposure to integrating business operations or asset management platforms

Who you are

  • A clear communicator who builds strong relationships

  • Structured, outcome-driven, and comfortable with ambiguity

  • A natural problem solver who enjoys making things work
