AstraZeneca relies on the design, construction and commissioning of new R&D and manufacturing facilities, in order to bring innovative new medicines to patients. The successful applicant will be responsible to deliver major global engineering projects based in our recently announced Antibody Drug Conjugate (ADC) Facility, to be built in Tuas, Singapore. This is a large multi-phased project, with the initial phase estimated at USD 1.5bn.
ADCs are a class of biopharmaceutical drug designed as a targeted therapy for treating cancer. Unlike chemotherapy, ADCs are intended to target and kill tumour cells while sparing healthy cells. ADCs are complex molecules, composed of an antibody, linked to a biologically active cytotoxic (anticancer) payload or drug.
What you'll do:
Leads single or multiple global projects circa $200M; core project team of up to 20 staff; on-site workforce of up to 1,000 persons
Leads, defines and gains approval of business needs and the translation of these needs into requirements
Recruits, defines goals, sets and manages performance standards for a multi-functional team able to deliver projects or programmes to time, cost and quality standards
Leads, defines and achieves engineering, safety and work standards and associated procedures, to ensure the assets meet business needs and satisfy external regulators
Plans, manages and controls overall allocation of resource, to ensure that customer requirements are met at the optimum cost
Align and execute against sourcing strategy for projects, including appointment and control of external contracts, often sourced from different countries
Actively manage supplier/ vendor performance to meet project quality, costs and schedule. And supports wider supplier relationship management activities including escalation.
Defines best practice in Project Management, and proactively acts as a thought leader in determining leading Project Management business processes
Leads the conceptual design of assets, ensuring the delivery of best practice and continuous improvements
Represents the Project Management function externally, engaging with external thought leaders and interpreting trends and developments to ensure best practice is understood and applied
Essential Skills & Experience:
Bachelor Degree or equivalent
Professional Engineering Status
Thorough knowledge of pharmaceutical industry
Expertise in at least one functional capability
Proven team leadership experience in a manufacturing, engineering, or R&D environment
5 years of Capital Project delivery in a leadership position
