Job Title

Project Manager and Backlog Owner – Video Analytics, Sophia Antipolis

Job Description

Axis is hiring a Project Manager and Backlog Owner on the French Riviera, where the Alps meet the sea! Join our Sophia-Antipolis R&D team to help shape the future of video analytics — combining innovation, research, and real-world product delivery.

Your Future Team
We’re an international crew of AI and software engineers, blending research with robust solutions deployed worldwide. We develop video analytics products that help our customers solve real-world challenges, from improving security to optimizing operations. Our work spans cutting-edge research, accuracy evaluation, and market-ready solutions that deliver tangible impact. Our secret? Passion, kindness, and knowledge sharing—all in a great place to live and work.

What will be your role?

As Project Manager and Backlog Owner, you’ll bridge innovation and product delivery. You’ll coordinate R&D and product-oriented projects, manage the backlog, and ensure that our video analytics software evolves with the right quality, accuracy, and customer value.

Working closely with engineers, QA, and product stakeholders, you’ll bring structure, clarity, and alignment across the full development lifecycle — from exploration to deployment.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and coordinating software and R&D projects — planning, organizing, and overseeing deliveries to ensure timely results with the right quality and stability.
  • Coordinating innovation and qualification projects, ensuring results are clearly documented and ready for productization if successful.
  • Owning and refining the product backlog, defining priorities and acceptance criteria in close collaboration with QA and engineering teams.
  • Monitoring progress, performance, and accuracy, and ensuring transparency around project status and outcomes.
  • Facilitating communication and collaboration across engineering, product, and business stakeholders, serving as a key connector.
  • Promoting knowledge sharing and continuous improvement, helping teams grow and refine our development methodology.
  • Helping teams align technical work with business goals, ensuring deliverables support customer value and product objectives.
  • Working in close partnership with the engineering manager, sharing ownership of planning, priorities, and process improvements.

Who are we looking for?

We’re looking for someone who embodies Axis’ values — openness, teamwork, and collaboration — and who enjoys turning ideas into structured, high-impact results in a dynamic R&D environment.

You’ll thrive in this role if you have:

  • A Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a related engineering field — ideally with a focus on imaging or video.
  • Several years of experience in project management, backlog ownership, or technical leadership.
  • A solid understanding of imaging, video analytics, and AI/ML technologies, and how they are applied in modern software products.
  • A structured, curious, and communicative approach to problem-solving.
  • The ability to make and communicate clear technical and feature-related decisions.
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to foster team spirit.
  • A long-term mindset and an interest in the full product lifecycle — from idea to implementation.
  • Experience with Jira and Confluence.
  • Fluent English is required, and a good understanding of French is important for daily collaboration in our multicultural environment (Swedish is a strong plus).
  • A detail-oriented and pragmatic way of working.

What can Axis offer you?

Join a global company and work with modern technologies alongside highly skilled colleagues across the world. You’ll find plenty of opportunities to learn, contribute, and make an impact.

As part of the Axis Sophia-Antipolis team, you’ll enjoy a kind and caring environment, sustainable mobility incentives, a corporate bonus, ongoing training and self-development, comprehensive insurance and a pension plan, plus additional local perks. You’ll also collaborate closely with our teams in Sweden, with opportunities to travel for onboarding and joint projects.

Axis is an equal-opportunity employer and is committed to responsible business and sustainability and has signed the United Nations Global Compact, a worldwide initiative for corporate sustainability.
