Product Lead Accounting Core Capabilities

HBP (Amsterdam - Haarlerbergpark) Full time

We are looking for an experienced, hands-on, people-oriented lead to drive the reliability and continuous improvements of the core product and general ledger capabilities. You will lead a cross-border team and collaborate with various key stakeholders (predominantly within COO Finance and the CFO organisation in head office and countries). You will be reporting into the Tribe Lead Financial Accounting. The role includes developing a the target central financial accounting (sub) ledger capabilities, translating it into concrete implementation strategies and roadmaps.

You will be located in Amsterdam with direct steer on teams Amsterdam and ING Hubs. 

Your role and work environment

COO Finance (COOF) is an independent unit reporting into ING’s CFO and COO. It is accountable for executing ING Finance and COO strategy to evolve towards one global digital bank. The COOF mission is to enable excellence in Finance with real time business insights, derived from state of the art technologies, optimal use of data and highly effective operations.

As Product Lead you will be working on large end-to-end transformation initiatives with the aim to establish robust technology solutions and corresponding processes to cater for timely, accurate, complete and auditable accounted data for various external and internal reporting purposes.

Your team

You will lead your team to develop, implement and/or maintain products and services. You are responsible for executing the strategy and all activities of your organisation in Netherlands, ING Hubs and with our SSI partners in India, including risk & control activities to remain in control of risks and keeping the bank safe.

Your key responsibilities

As Product Lead you take responsibility for:

  • Co-create the execution strategy for Tribe Financial Accounting to deliver the COOF ambitions.
  • Shape and lead the execution of the strategy of your area of responsibility based on the Tribe FA and COOF strategy.
  • Lead transformation initiatives, including implementing AI strategies in your Product, to evolve business processes.
  • Streamlining the requirement setting and delivery planning for new change and transformation initiatives
  • Developing the necessary skills and capabilities for straight-through and fully digital accounting processes
  • Staying safe, reliable and compliant on your products and services.
  • Continuously working on ways to innovate and improve your products and services
  • People leadership and driving people development, employee engagement and diversity in your organisation.
  • Actively engaging and aligning strategies, demand and priorities with (senior) stakeholders in Finance, risk and business organisations

How to succeed 

We are looking for an ambitious and inspiring product lead, able to deliver change according to project plans, while staying safe, reliable and compliant on your products and services. You are continuously looking for ways to improve, to further optimise the strategy, and to further drive employee engagement and diversity.

You have a proven track record and the following skills:

  • Master Degree (University / Postgraduate) in Accounting or Controlling
  • 10+ years of experience in Banking and Financial Accounting
  • 5+ years relevant experience in management and leadership.
  • 5+ year experience in managing complex change and transformation
  • Deep knowledge in banking products and financial accounting principles
  • Experience with technology implementation and leading Tech teams (dev/ops)
  • Active stakeholder management in complex stakeholder environment
  • Sourcing experience and leading cross border teams
  • Building effective teams and drive engagement, drive results and instil trust
