Compensation includes a base salary of $72,200.00 - $108,200.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. The Producer, Events & Experiences will play a pivotal role in shaping our transformation and delivering on our mission to provide essential, engaging news and experiences for Atlanta, Georgia, and the South. In this role, you will collaborate with innovative colleagues to produce impactful, newsroom-driven content—ranging from conversations with legislators and panel discussions to social and co-sponsored events across virtual, in-person, and hybrid formats. Your expertise in managing software-driven event elements and overseeing all stages of production will directly influence how we connect with current and new subscribers, ensuring each event both informs and inspires.
Responsibilities include:
Support event production by assisting with venue planning, attending site visits, and supporting the creation of production schedules with minimum direction
Coordinate crew catering and convey details to manager
Maintain clear communication throughout the event planning process
Support the technical management of events by contributing to pre-production setup, overseeing live event operations, and assisting with post-production tasks, including content organization and delivery
Completely manage email and SMS marketing campaigns for events using Splash and Iterable, ensuring timely and effective communication with attendees
Coordinate event registration and ticket sales using Splash (a Cvent product), ensuring a seamless attendee experience from sign-up to onsite check-in
Handle all elements of Experiences storage space including maintaining inventory, coordinating logistics of event equipment and organization.
Assist with speaker scheduling by organizing key details and facilitating communications regarding their participation and event logistics
Coordinate executive and VIP itineraries, including entry procedures and credentialing to ensure a smooth experience for high-profile guests
Support Managing Producer with fiscal responsibilities: review and understand budgets, track & submit invoices and offer suggestions for cost optimization/reduction
Assist in conducting post-event evaluations through data entry, analysis, and preparation of recap reports for stakeholders
Fulfill sponsor’s activation requirements with instruction and oversight by Executive Producer and Managing Producer; help ensure all obligations are met and sponsor expectations are exceeded during events
Work alongside the subscription team to promote events, support reengagement campaigns, and contribute to delivering enhanced value to subscribers.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop audience segments and promote events to targeted groups through AJC channels
Demonstrate proactive problem-solving by anticipating event needs and addressing potential issues to ensure the smooth execution of all events
An ideal candidate will have:
Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills, with a keen eye for copy editing
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining a strategic, big-picture focus
Technical proficiency with computers, applications, and software relevant to event management
Attention to detail, ensuring tasks are completed accurately and within established deadlines
Exhibits professionalism, discretion, and courtesy when interacting with internal and external stakeholders
Capable of performing effectively under pressure, both independently and as part of a team
Strong sense for visual design and document formatting, particularly in creating engaging show assets
Experience with Splash (an event marketing platform) is highly desirable
Background in journalism, fact-based storytelling, documentaries, or experience working in a news organization is considered an asset
Essentials (must haves):
Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and 4 years’ experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master’s degree and 2 years’ experience; a Ph.D. and up to 1 year of experience; or 8 years’ experience in a related field.
At least 2 years of hands-on experience in events or related fields such as production.
Experience managing live event logistics, including:
- Lighting setup and management
- Sound systems operation
- Crew coordination
- Stage management tasks
- Strong ability to quickly learn and adapt to new software platforms
and operational processes.
- Technical agility and flexibility
- Proven project management experience, demonstrating the ability to
plan, execute, and oversee multiple projects simultaneously while
maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines
Extras
Experience with the CVENT event management suite; knowledge of Splash and Shoflo
Proven ability to plan and execute email and SMS campaigns, using platforms such as Iterable and Twilio
Skilled in streaming and virtual studio tools, including Splash Virtual Studios and Streamyard, for live and hybrid events
Exceptional customer service skills and experience responding to client or customer write-ins, questions, concerns and requests
Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Acrobat, Photoshop, Premier Pro) for documentation, design, and video editing
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
