The Process Engineer / Technical Supervisor is responsible for optimizing bakery manufacturing processes to ensure consistent product quality, production efficiency, and compliance with food safety and safety standards. This role combines hands-on leadership of technical operators with continuous improvement engineering, supporting process reliability, yield optimization, and line performance through data-driven solutions and technical expertise.
What you will do...
Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis for process deviations, downtime, and yield losses.
Implement process improvements that enhance throughput, reduce waste, and improve product quality.
Support equipment setup, changeovers, and validation for new or reformulated bakery products.
Direct daily activities of technical operators, process technicians, and maintenance partners.
Coach and develop team members to ensure adherence to SOPs, safety protocols, and quality standards.
Lead shift handoff meetings, ensuring accurate communication of performance and issues.
Utilize Lean, Six Sigma, and statistical process control (SPC) methodologies to identify opportunities for improvement.
Develop and maintain process documentation including process flow diagrams, control plans, and work instructions.
Participate in capital projects and new equipment commissioning, ensuring process capability and sustainability.
Partner with QA to ensure compliance with GMP, HACCP, SQF, and regulatory standards.
Conduct process audits and monitor critical control points to ensure consistent food safety.
Support sanitation validation, allergen changeovers, and traceability requirements.
Track and analyze key process indicators (OEE, scrap, yield, downtime).
Develop standard work and drive corrective actions for chronic process losses.
Support the creation of preventive maintenance and predictive reliability schedules.
Work closely with Operations, Maintenance, and R&D to introduce new technologies and formulations.
Collaborate on training programs for line leads and operators to improve process understanding.
Support AOP and cost-savings initiatives through technical project management and innovation.

What you bring to the table (must have)...
High School Required
3+ years of process or manufacturing engineering experience in food or bakery production preferred.
It would be great to have (nice to have)...
Bachelor’s degree Preferred or equivalent technical experience in a food manufacturing environment.
Experience with Lean Manufacturing, TPM, or Six Sigma tools.
Supervisory or leadership experience in a technical operations environment is strongly preferred.
Strong knowledge of bakery processing systems (mixing, proofing, baking, cooling, packaging).
Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, process flow diagrams, and performance data.
Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite
Strong leadership, communication, and team development skills.
Analytical problem-solving ability with hands-on technical capability.
Proven ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Compensation and Benefits:
The target base salary range for this full-time, salaried position is between
$89,300-$128,300Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation. In addition, we offer competitive health, dental, 401k and wellness benefits beginning on the first day of employment.
