The Green Health and Wellness Center Emergency Department offers 24-hour emergency care with board-certified, emergency medicine physicians who are available around-the-clock to provide comprehensive care to adults and children. Backed by the full resources of Cleveland Clinic Akron General and Cleveland Clinic, the Emergency Department provides advanced care in the Bath community. As an RN, you will deliver exceptional care, throughout the patient care journey. In this role, you will interact directly with patients and their families, offering the opportunity to enhance their experience and provide healthcare education as needed.
A caregiver in this position works PRN (as needed) varying shifts.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Complete Emergency Department assessment data based upon patients’ arrival, inclusive of psychosocial, educational and age specific needs.
- Review and document care and discharge goals with physicians, patients and families.
- Administer and document IVs and medications.
- Intervene when changes in a patient’s condition occur and document nursing interventions and patient’s responses.
- Assign and delegate appropriate patient care activities to other nursing caregivers.
- Provide appropriate care for alleged rape/sexual assault victims.
- Provide community referrals to patients and families.
- Complete mandatory education and training to maintain competencies, requirements, certification and/or licensure, such as Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
- Obtain and maintain Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within three months of employment/transfer.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
- Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Ohio
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross within one year of hire
- External applicants must have two years recent related nursing experience.
- Internal applicants with less than two years’ experience but post orientation /90 day probationary period could be considered with Chief Nursing Officer level review and approval.
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Two years of emergency room experience or relevant critical care experience
Physical Requirements:
- Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
- Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
- Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
- Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
- Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
- Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
