Provides health care services applying pulsed x-ray energy to assist diagnosis or treatment. Performs CT procedures, computer processing and related techniques, producing images for the interpretation by or at the request of a licensed independent practitioner. Exercises professional judgment in performance of service and maintains a demeanor complimentary to medical ethics. Recognizes various patient conditions in order to provide appropriate patient care to ensure successful completion of the exam or procedure.
Job Description:
Description Registered Nurse:
- Perform high-quality CT imaging procedures for accurate interpretation by the Radiologist.
- Verify patient identification, orders, and medical history to ensure proper exam preparation.
- Administer contrast materials safely and document procedures, reactions, and medications accurately.
- Monitor patients throughout exams, ensuring safety, comfort, and adherence to radiation protection standards (ALARA).
- Perform daily equipment warm-up, quality control (QC) checks, and report malfunctions or safety concerns promptly.
- Accurately archive and verify images in PACS; notify administrators of any imaging or transmission issues.
- Collaborate with Radiologists and the CT Coordinator to maintain imaging protocols and support ACR accreditation requirements.
- Assist in developing and adjusting exam protocols for adult and pediatric patients in accordance with regulatory and safety guidelines.
- Maintain appropriate inventory of supplies and linens, ensuring readiness of the CT suite.
- Provide guidance and training to new staff and imaging students during clinical rotations.
- Adhere to all hospital policies, safety procedures, and infection control standards.
- Participate in required training programs, emergency preparedness, and quality improvement initiatives.
Requirements Registered Nurse:
- Associate degree
- Current American Registry Radiologic Technology (ARRT) Registry in Radiography RT(R)
- Current Commonwealth of Kentucky Radiation License with the Kentucky Board of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy.
- One or two years in Special Imaging Preferred
- Must obtain Basic Life Support (BLS)-American Heart Association within 90 days
- Must obtain Advanced ARRT Registry in Computed Tomography (CT) within 1 year
