Manulife Private Wealth (“MPW”) delivers discretionary private investment counselling to high net worth (“HNW”) clients across Canada. We are seeking a highly motivated and strategic Private Wealth Consultant to join our growing team. This individual will play a key role in driving new business with internal and external partners, presenting the MPW offering to prospective clients and advisors. The ideal candidate is entrepreneurial, relationship-driven and skilled at identifying opportunities to expand our client base.

This role will have shared responsibilities of Ontario and cover Western Canada. The candidate can work out of our Vancouver, Calgary or Toronto office.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Build and maintain a strong referral network with our internal partners (e.g. PlanRight and Transitions teams) as well as external advisors and insurance partners, to identify, qualify and pursue new client opportunities.
  • Lead prospect meetings, contributing to needs analysis, solution design and proposal development
  • Collaborate on the development and delivery of client pitches and presentations
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of a HNW private wealth offering, including financial planning, investment solutions, tax and estate considerations
  • Organize and lead roadshows and webinars to educate prospects, advisors and internal partners on MPW and our value proposition.
  • Attend client and industry events to build relationships with prospects and referring partners and capitalize on networking opportunities.
  • Deliver a high-quality client experience from initial engagement through onboarding
  • Participate in the company’s growth initiatives and strategic projects that expand our market reach
  • Some travel may be required to meet prospective clients and/or advisors in person

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience specifically in a business development role within wealth management
  • Undergraduate degree in commerce, finance or equivalent
  • CFP, CFA or Chartered Investment Manager (CIM) designation considered an asset
  • Proven track record in business development, client acquisition or relationship management
  • Experience with CRM platforms, such as Salesforce, an asset
  • Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
  • Deep understanding of wealth management products and solutions
  • Highly capable of adapting approach to what is best for each situation.

Salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
