About the role

We're looking for a Privacy Officer to join our team, supporting operational businesses across Australia and New Zealand. This part-time opportunity is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative environment, values integrity, and is committed to helping teams navigate the evolving privacy landscape with confidence. We welcome applications from candidates based in Brisbane, Melbourne, or Sydney.

In this dynamic role, you’ll collaborate with Data Protection and Compliance leads, as well as teams across HR, Risk, Legal, IT, and other divisions, to oversee our privacy compliance posture. You’ll provide guidance on privacy matters, including new projects, contract reviews, Privacy Impact Assessments, privacy risk assessments while updating the team on regulatory changes.

Role responsibilities

  • Strengthen privacy compliance and contribute to the development of tools, processes, and reporting frameworks.
  • Support awareness initiatives, staff training, and internal audits to embed a strong data privacy culture across the business.
  • Collaborate on the Group-wide privacy strategy and promote a risk-based, proportionate approach to compliance.
  • Provide expert advice on a wide range of privacy matters including DPIAs, breach management, data retention, overseas transfers, marketing, subject rights, and privacy notices.
  • Assist with contract reviews, supplier due diligence, and IT system rollouts to ensure privacy is considered from the outset.
  • Monitor and assess changes in privacy and cyber regulations across ANZ, ensuring timely and clear communication to relevant stakeholders.

About you

You’re a proactive and knowledgeable privacy professional with at least five years’ experience in data privacy compliance, ideally within a complex organisation. You’ve played a key role in building or supporting privacy programs and are comfortable navigating decentralised operating models.

You hold a relevant data protection qualification and bring hands-on experience in managing data subject rights requests, conducting DPIAs, and driving compliance improvements in fast-paced, agile environments. Your understanding of ANZ data privacy laws is strong, and familiarity with other jurisdictions is a bonus. You’re confident advising on technical and organisational measures to protect organisational data.

Your background may include insurance or financial services, and you’re known for your ability to provide risk-based advice, influence stakeholders, and lead projects involving diverse teams. Skilled in communication, engaging with all levels, from executives to staff, thriving in dynamic environment that valuing curiosity and proactivity.
