Position: Capital Markets FX Back Office QA Lead: Principal, SW Quality Engineering

We are seeking a Global QA Lead who brings a highly niche skill set, combining deep expertise in FX back office operations & Murex functional knowledge(5 years). This individual will operate at the level of a Principal, SW Quality Engineering, with proven ability to design end-to-end test strategies, manage complex test cycles across global teams, and ensure compliance with regulatory and business standards.

This rare combination of hands-on functional knowledge, advanced testing leadership, and institutional expertise is critical to the success of our program.

Key Differentiators

  • Deep FX Back Office Expertise: Extensive experience in FX workflows and settlement processes.
  • Murex Functional Knowledge: Bring at least 5+ years of Murex experience with strong understanding of integrated business processes.
  • Testing Leadership: Skilled in designing global test strategies, managing defect cycles, and driving compliance with Enterprise standards.

Responsibilities

  • Advance product quality through testing innovations and process improvements.
  • Collaborate with BAs, Architects & Developers to design testable applications.
  • Develop technical roadmaps and plans for implementing enterprise/program test strategies.
  • Manage complex test cycles, coordinate defect management, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Design and manage proof-of-concept and feasibility studies.
  • Resolve technical issues, anticipate risks, and ensure timely escalation.
  • Optimize and maintain test automation suites and frameworks.
  • Drive automation strategy for CI/CD pipelines and regression testing.
  • Provide leadership in resource planning, team building, and performance management.

Required Skills:

  • FX Back Office & Murex Expertise: Functional knowledge of trade lifecycle, Confirmations, settlements, Payments and risk workflows.
  • Testing Strategy & Leadership: End-to-end test planning, execution, and governance across global teams.
  • Automation & CI/CD: Expert in frameworks (BDD/TDD), tools (Cucumber, Selenium), and pipelines (Jenkins, Azure DevOps).
  • Data & API Testing: Strong experience with SQL, ETL/ELT, microservices, and data validation.
  • Performance Testing: Proven ability to design and execute performance tests at program level.
  • Compliance & Standards: Familiarity with Enterprise testing standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to understand complex business logic and calculations.
  • Financial Domain Experience: Exposure to capital markets and FX preferred.
  • Azure Certification: Preferred

Experience:

  • 16+ years of relevant experience, including leadership roles in QA and testing for financial systems.
  • A College or University degree and/or relevant proven work experience is preferred.

Salary Range:

$114,700 - 194,900 USD

Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
