Northrop Grumman Microelectronics Center (NGMC) is seeking a Principal/Sr. Principal Requirements and Test Planning Systems Engineer

What You'll Get to Do  

Develop test plans and reports to verify and validate microelectronic systems. 

  • Oversee the requirements management process by refining high-level customer needs into actionable engineering tasks. 

  • Translate these requirements into design concepts that direct the subsequent design, build, and testing phases. 

  • Conduct comprehensive system-level analyses—including functional assessments, trade studies, and timeline evaluations—to support informed design decisions. 

  • Develop and implement robust test plans and methodologies to ensure system performance meets design objectives. 

  • Report on test and simulation results to provide clear feedback on system performance and guide future improvements. 

This position will serve 100% on-site in Linthicum / Annapolis Junction, MD.  

This requisition may be filled as a Principal or Senior Principal Requirements and Test Planning Systems Engineer

Basic Qualifications for Principal Requirements and Test Planning Systems Engineer:  

  • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 5 years of experience with Bachelor's degree, 3 years of experience with Master's degree, 1 years of experience with PhD

  • Demonstrated experience with Systems Engineering principles and practices.  

  • Proven ability to develop key engineering artifacts, such as Interface Control Documents (ICDs), System/Subsystem Specifications, and Verification Cross Reference Matrices (VCRMs). 

  • Experience with one or more of the following areas: RF Systems Engineering, Systems Integration, Device Characterization, Test Engineering and Planning.   

  • Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders. 

  • This position requires the applicant to be a U.S. citizen   

  • Clearance: Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a US Government security clearance per customer requirements .

  • Demonstrated experience with Systems Engineering principles and practices.  

  • Proven ability to develop key engineering artifacts, such as Interface Control Documents (ICDs), System/Subsystem Specifications, and Verification Cross Reference Matrices (VCRMs). 

  • Experience with one or more of the following areas: RF Systems Engineering, Systems Integration, Device Characterization, Test Engineering and Planning.

  • This position requires the applicant to be a U.S. citizen   

  • Clearance: Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a US Government security clearance per customer requirements .

Preferred Qualifications of Principal / Sr. Principal Requirements and Test Planning Systems Engineer:  

  • Current/active DoD Top Secret Clearance and SCI with polygraph

  • Proficiency in technical problem solving; to include decomposition, root cause analysis, solution development, implementation and monitoring  

  • Experience in multiple core engineering knowledge-areas such as systems design, RF engineering, hardware engineering, software and firmware design, integration and test.  

  • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering for thread-based requirements development and architecture management (Cameo Systems Modeler preferred)   

  • Experience with dynamic systems design and development including formal technical baseline and change management 

  • Experience with trade studies, white papers, analysis of alternatives (AoA), CONOPs Analysis, or Risk Reduction activities (RR) 

 

Primary Level Salary Range: $105,400.00 - $165,500.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $131,100.00 - $206,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
