Role
As a key member of our new chemical lab, you will play an important role in driving the development of innovative Antibody Drug Conjugates in a fast-paced and innovative biotech environment. Your expertise in medicinal chemistry and antibody drug conjugates will be instrumental in designing, synthesizing, and optimizing novel compounds to advance our research and development pipeline. You will contribute to multidisciplinary new discovery projects. You have an expert oversight over the field of medicinal chemistry, ADC conjugation chemistry and payload chemistry. In this role, you will be hands-on and work closely with other Discovery teams, such as Product Discovery, Antibody Engineering, Data Science and High-Throughput Screening to develop state-of-the-art ADCs.

Responsibilities
Compound Design and Synthesis: Design, develop and synthesize novel organic compounds, payloads and linkers to support drug discovery and development projects. Apply medicinal chemistry principles to design compounds with optimal pharmacological properties and ensure conjugation to Genmab’s antibody formats. Contribute to the development and implementation of innovative synthetic methodologies and strategies to enhance efficiency, scalability, and overall project success.
Optimization and Analysis: Conduct structure-activity relationship (SAR) studies to optimize lead compounds. Utilize advanced analytical techniques, including HPLC, LC-MS, NMR, and other methods to characterize and purify ADC compounds and linker-payloads.
Collaboration: Participate and lead cross-functional teams project teams and meetings to integrate chemistry efforts into broader research and development activities. Contribute to the planning and execution of experiments that drive project milestones. Oversee all outsourcing activities to various CROs around the globe.
Innovation: Stay abreast of the latest scientific advancements and technologies in ADCs, payload chemistry and linker chemistry. Apply innovative approaches to solve complex problems and contribute to the development of new research strategies.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and detailed records of experimental procedures, results, and analyses. Prepare and present scientific reports, manuscripts, and presentations to internal and external stakeholders.
Quality and Compliance: Ensure that all work is conducted in compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and best practices. Participate in safety and compliance training as required.
Requirements
Educational Background: Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, or a related field, with a strong foundation in both theoretical and practical aspects of medicinal chemistry and (preferably) ADC discovery.
Experience: Minimum of 6 years of experience in medicinal and/or organic chemistry, preferably in a startup or innovative biotech environment. Proven track record of successful compound design, synthesis, and optimization.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in organic synthesis techniques and analytical methods, including NMR, MS, HPLC, and other relevant technologies. Experience with parallel synthesis, high-throughput screening and SAR analysis is a plus.
Analytical Thinking: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex data and derive actionable insights. Demonstrated ability to design and execute experiments independently.
Collaboration: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment. Experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams is highly desirable.
Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment with a flexible and proactive approach to work. Willingness to take on diverse tasks and responsibilities as needed.
